TEENIE KWASNICKI

It’s with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother and baba, Teenie Kwasnicki on Monday, March 31, 2014 at St. Boniface Hospital.

Mom was born on March 23, 1927 to Wasyl and Mary Chubaty of St.Malo, Mb. In 1945 she met her husband John, and they were married on May 4, 1946. They settled in Tolstoi where she began her career as a teacher. She taught for only a brief time as she returned to her true passion of being a homemaker and farmer alongside her husband. In essence, she continued to teach those that surrounded her with family values and life lessons. Whether it was decorating Easter eggs, pinching perogies, rolling cabbage rolls or giving relationship advice, there was always a lesson to be learned.

She was especially proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Mom was a long time member of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Tolstoi and the Ukrainian Women’s Auxiliary of Canada. Mom was an exceptional individual. She will be remembered by her sharp wit, candid humor, and gentle nature.

Mom / Baba will be greatly missed by her children…Delores (Ernie), Wally (Cheryl), Marianne, Ivan (Monique), Karen (Dennis), and Andrea (Kevin). Her 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Marcel), Melanie (Steve)Marshall, Kyle, Courtney, Kevin, Justin, Michaela, Shelby, Chelsea and Madison, 5 great grandchildren, Tess, Britney, Tyler, Taya and Nikota, and 1 great great grandson Joey. Mom is also survived by 5 sisters, Agnes Derbowka, Jean Senavich, Gloria (Wally) Urbanowich, Olga (Jerry Nicholas) Rosie DeBlois, 3 brothers, Peter (Evelyn) Chubaty, Billy (Yvonne) Chubaty and Nick Chubaty, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her husband John, her daughter Patricia, great-granddaughter Calesta, great-great-granddaughter Leta Rose and 5 sisters and 1 brother.

A celebration of Teenie’s life will commence with a prayer service April 7th at 7pm at Green Acres Funeral Home. (Highway 1 East at Navin Road). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 8th at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Tolstoi, Manitoba at 10:30am, burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Box 33, Tolstoi, Manitoba, R0A 2E0.
