OVIDE HENRI JOSEPH LABOSSIÈRE

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Ovide passed away at the age of 71 years on Monday, Mar. 17, 2014 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carol (née Nichols) of 47 years, daughter Christine (Joseph Hickman), son Clinton, daughter Carrie (Adelard Bibeau), his grandchildren – whom he adored – Travis and Karlie Hickman, Kendra and Ciara Bibeau.

Also left to mourn are his brothers and sisters: Lorraine (Kurtenbach), Dorothée (Marcel Dequier), Romeo Labossière, Roger Labossière, Arlette (Allan Garth); brothers-in-law Lee Griffin and Albert Menard; and Carol’s family, Max (Janet) Nichols, Ed (Agnes) Nichols, Violet (Arthur Cote), Bernice Blaczejewski, Clifford (Mary) Nichols, Mary-Rose (Lionel Pilloud), Jim (Barbara Nichols), Joan (David Darichuk); also many aunts, nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

Ovide was predeceased by his infant son Darin in 1968, his parents Viateur and Angèle Labossière, and stepdad Amedée Picton.

Ovide was born on July 8, 1942, the third child in a family of eight. Having lost his father at a young age, he became a responsible and mature boy having to help out at home. He loved the outdoors. Fishing and hunting were only some of the activities that he enjoyed. Ovide was an iron worker throughout his career, which took him all over the provinces.

Dad, you fought so hard to stay with us and to help Mom. We will miss you so much. You will be sadly missed by everyone who knew you.

Cremation and a private memorial have taken place.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Inc, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
