FRANCES EDITH (nee Wright) COE
June 8, 1919 – March 17, 2014
It is with great sadness and love that we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who passed away at Extendicare Lethbridge at the age of 94 years.
Frances will be sadly missed by her children, Sharon (Allan) Neville, Phil Coe Jr. (Sonja d.), Barbara (Allan) Bayne, and Laurel (Lyle) Saskowski, grandchildren Scot (Marcie) Neville, Lee (Rochelle) Neville, Patrik (Kathy) Coe, Christopher Coe, Robyn (Jeff) Newman, Curtis (Darcy) Bayne, Andrea (Dan) Skjaerlund, Chris (Stevie) Saskowski, Heather Saskowski and her great grandchildren, Simon, Emily, Samuel, Chloe, Sophie, Roan, Fenn, Elis, Journey, Hudson, Alanna, Kyla and Tyson. Frances was predeceased by her husband Phil in 1988 and daughter in law Sonja in 2013.
Frances taught in schools throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba including Thunderbird, Benito and Thompson. At retirement Phil and Fran moved to Steinbach, Manitoba. Upon Phil’s passing in 1988 Frances went on a short-term mission trip to Costa Rica and stayed for six years. From there she settled in Lethbridge, Alberta. Frances valued travel and education and over the course of her life studied at various universities earning her B.A, B.Ed, and Masters in Library Science among other scholastic accomplishments.
Frances loved to travel, was passionate about books, and an active volunteer at such places as the Galt Museum, Salvation Army and Bibles for Missions.
Frances was a member of the Anglican Church, the Canadian Federation of University Women, Council of Canadians, a staunch NDP supporter and her favorite charities were directed to animal welfare and environmental concerns.
Frances was a passionate collector of anything to do with Charles Dickens and some of her vast collection was proudly displayed at the Lethbridge Public Library with most being donated to the University of Lethbridge.
We will miss you mom but you leave behind a lifetime of memories that will live on in your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and interment in Steinbach, Manitoba will be held at a later date.
Flowers are respectfully declined. In lieu of flowers, your time would be appreciated attending and enjoying your local library.
