Katharina Unrau (nee Teichroeb) of Grunthal MB., passed away peacefully at the age of 96, surrounded by her family at her home, the Menno Home in Grunthal on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.
Left to cherish her memory is her nine children, eight girls and one boy: Susie (Aaron Enns) of Winkler, Mary (Dave Brandt) of Blumenort, Tina (Cornelius Friesen) of Grunthal, Helen (Jake Martens) of Austin, Agatha (Pete Reimer) of Grunthal, Nettie Klassen of Steinbach, John Unrau (Violet) of Walhalla, ND., Anne (Andy Wiebe) of Steinbach, and Eva (Cornie Wiebe) of Carmen; her 40 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother.
She was predeceased by her husband Herman Unrau, five children in infancy, and three sons-in-law.
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the many people that have visited our Mom since Dad passed and also during her stay in the Menno Home. We would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Menno Home for the amazing care that they gave our Mom.
Viewing will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. A viewing will also be held at the church prior to the service.
The funeral service will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at E.M.B. Church in Grunthal, MB. Burial will follow at Grunthal Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Katharina may be made to Menno Home Foundation; Box 280, Grunthal, MB, R0A 0R0.
