ELIZABETH BARTHELETTE

Elizabeth (Betty) Barthelette, age 78 years of Selkirk, Manitoba, formerly of Badger, MB, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Adelard, her parents Tom and Rose Hill, her son-in-law Alex Saunders, brothers Bob and Bill Hill, sister Barb McCulloch, sister-in-law Edna Hill, and brother-in-law Hugh Bell.

She is survived by her children: Alf (Diane), Lynn, Joan (Ted), Barry (Laura), and Jayson (Maureen); grandchildren: Mickey (Laura), Billy, Matthew, Jessica (Wes), and Josh; great-grandchildren: Aaron, Alex, and Corbin; and 20 extended grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Milie, brother Jack (Mary), sister-in-law Doreen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was born and raised in Badger, MB where she met and later married Adelard. They settled in East Selkirk to raise their family. She had various jobs over the years and really enjoyed working at ARC Industries. After retiring as a school bus driver with Lord Selkirk School Division, they returned to Badger, where she enjoyed quad rides, nature, picking blueberries and weekend visits with her family. After Adelard’s passing, she moved back to Selkirk, still enjoying Badger in the summer.

Mom had many talents including knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing cards and socializing with family and friends. Most recently Mom enjoyed travelling, taking a cruise to Alaska, and bus trips to the East Coast and Branson, Missouri.

The memorial service will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with ash interment to follow at Badger Cemetery, Badger, MB.
