JACOB T. BERGEN

Jacob T. Bergen, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Vita District Health Center in Vita, MB. Jacob was born in Horndean, MB on October 19, 1929. Jacob reached the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 16 days.

Jacob leaves to mourn his wife Elisabeth with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage, two daughters, two sons and their families: Helena (Jake) Rempel of Kleefeld, Henry (Tina) Bergen of Grunthal, Jake (Elma) of Paraguay and Martha of Winnipeg; thirteen grandchildren in Canada, three grandchildren in Paraguay, forty-nine great-grandchildren and three foster great-grandchildren in Canada, five great-grandchildren in Paraguay; as well as one sister and brother-in-law in Canada, one brother in Canada, and one brother in Paraguay.
Jacob was predeceased by his parents, one grandson, a stillborn granddaughter, one daughter-in-law, two sisters, one sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Vita Hospital for their love and care to Jacob during his stay there. The family appreciate all those who came to visit and help shorten the days.

Viewing will held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. Viewing will also be held at the church prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church, New Bothwell, MB with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
