JACOB B. REIMER

Our Dad, Jake Reimer, was born to his parents Jacob W. and Anna (nee Buhler) Reimer on February 12, 1937 at Vita MB. Most of his childhood years were spent in the Roseau River area. Horses and music were an important part of his life. Gospel music continued to be a big part of his entire life.
Dad was baptized upon the confession of his faith in Jesus on May 25, 1958 in the Reinland Conference. Throughout Dad's life his faith in Jesus Christ created a desire to serve in the church. He taught Sunday school for 36 years, during which time he was also superintendent for many years.

Dad met Mom, the sweetheart of his life, in December of 1957. They were married June 28, 1959, on his parent's yard. Most of their married life they lived in the Tolstoi and Grunthal area. At Tolstoi they farmed together with brother John and wife Mary for 14 years. His winters were filled manufacturing projects in his shop. In 1983 they sold their share of the farm and moved to Grunthal where he continued his passion of welding. He owned and operated Green Valley Manufacturing for 16 years.
Dad and Mom sold the business and moved into Grunthal in 1999. Their retirement years kept them very busy being involved with MCC, doing visitations and singing in senior's homes. Dad also loved being involved on different committees and boards. He also took great joy in helping his children.
Dad's hard work didn't come without a cost. From losing a finger, to having both knees and one hip replaced. We also remember him suffering from a lot of arthritic pain during a big part of his life.
Last year Dad really slowed down. He was hospitalized in November of 2013. From then until the day of his passing; less than 2 weeks were spent at home. It was heartbreaking to see Dad suffer this way; some days were better than others. On February 12 the whole family helped him celebrate his 77th birthday. On the 13th he took a turn for the worse; he was in constant pain and discomfort. On February 15 the Lord relieved him of his earthly pain. At 4:30 am our Dad went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Martha of 54 1/2 years, one daughter Dora and Calvin Hiebert of Randolph. Two sons: Dick and Henrietta Reimer of Woodmore, Carl and Esther Reimer of Grunthal, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn 6 brothers, 3 sisters, many nieces and nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by one brother and one sister. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the staff for the love and care they gave to Dad at the Ste. Anne hospital. Also, to all who visited Dad (he loved company) and all the prayers and support for Dad and us, the family. We want to thank all of those who helped at the devotional and funeral services, for we could not have done this without you. We would also like to thank all of you for coming today and showing your support.

The funeral will be held on February 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church with interment at the church cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel and at the church prior to the service.
