MARY (Maria) GIESBRECHT
(nee Unger)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Sister.

Mary Giesbrecht, 86, of Steinbach, passed away peacefully at Bethesda Hospital the morning of February 11, 2014 with her family at her side. She is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.

Mary is survived by her three children, Anne (Ivan) Joyal, Brian (Donna) Giesbrecht, and Mel (Deb) Giesbrecht, four grandchildren, Cheryl, Louise, Marcel, and Dixie, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by four sisters, Annie Reimer, Alvina (Cornie) Wiebe, Elma Fuhr, Martha (George) Barkman, and one brother, Ben (Erna) Unger, and one brother in law, Cornie Wiens.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Maria Unger, one son Cornie, and five sisters, Sara Wiens, Dora MacNeil, Elizabeth Unger, Helen Barkman, Eva Kornelson, one brother Peter,in infancy,

Viewing will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 7:00 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m., and at the church prior to the service.

Funeral service will be held Friday, February 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach CMC Church, 479 Hanover Street with interment at the Rosengard CMC Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary, may be made to Faith to Live By or Back to The Bible.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gumber and the wonderful nursing staff at Bethesda Hospital. Also, a very special thank you to Elvira and Laura for their compassion and caring during Mary’s hospital stay.
