ANNE LADYKA (Friesen)
February 9, 1942 – January 23, 2014
After a brief battle with Cancer, Anne Ladyka (Friesen), at the age of 71, passed away peacefully at the Hamiota Health Centre with family at her side.
Anne was predeceased by her parents Aganetha and Corny Friesen, her sister Tina Funk and brother Johnny Friesen, brother-in-laws Chris Baschuk and Abe Fuchs, sister-in-law Fran Friesen and her granddaughter Jestina Wajda; her father and mother in-law Joseph and Lena Ladyka and sister-in-law Olga.
Left to mourn are her Husband of 50 years Harold Ladyka, their Children Gordon Ladyka (Helen), Wendy Nederhoed (Albert), Miranda Wajda (Mark), Leroy Ladyka (Rachelle) and Tracey Peel (Blaine); grandchildren Jared, Dale, and Emily Nederhoed, Amy Wajda, Laura and Troy Peel, Beth and Joseph Ladyka, Mackenzie and Kayla Ladyka. Her siblings: Peter Friesen (Dorothy), Ike Friesen (Diane), David Friesen (Dorene), Jake Friesen (Bernice), Helen Hiebert (John), Agatha Fuchs, Mary Friesen (Andrew), Nettie Baschuk and Betty Smadella (Henry), brother in-law Johnny Funk (Betty). Sister-in-law Helen Hughes (Ray), Brothers-in-law Stan Ladyka and Nick Ladyka (Phyllis) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anne was born in Grunthal, MB, married in Winnipeg in 1964 and moved to Thompson, MB in 1969, where she raised her five children, retiring to Miniota, MB in 2005.
Until her Stroke in 1989, Anne was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and was an accomplished seamstress. Her family was her pride and joy and she gave selflessly and asked for nothing in return. She will be remembered for her witty humour, infectious laugh, caring nature and her ability to carry on when others would have quit.
The family would like to thank the 3rd Floor nursing staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, including, Dr. Smith, Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Cartagena, where she spent seven weeks. Also, they’d like to thank the wonderful staff and Doctors at the Hamiota Health Centre, with special thanks to Tara (LPN). As per Anne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
