MARGARET SAWATZKY
(nee SCHULTZ)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Margaret (Marge) on October 4, 2020, at the age of 92.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband George, her beloved granddaughter, Kayla, her sister, Mary, and brothers: Aaron, Frank, Peter, John, Jack and Ben. She is survived by daughters: Sharon LaFrance (Harold Gregorashuk), Gail (Gil) Lemoine and Gloria (Jim) Duhame. She will also be lovingly missed by her grandchildren: Rachelle (Darrin) Smith, Kerienne LaFrance, Meaghan (Ryan) Cook, Cameron O'Neill (Lise McLeod) and Ashley Duhame (Tyler Kooistra). Missing their Nana are great-grandchildren: Brenna and Brody Smith, Olivia and Cohen Cook, Cali and Myles O'Neill and Greyson Kooistra. Mom is also survived by her siblings: Anne Flores and Helen (Bill) Remple, sisters-in-law: Audrey, Eva, Anne, and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Mom was a beautiful lady inside and out. She was strong, and a proud Christian who loved her independence and freedom to be who she was. She kept busy with cooking, baking and she loved visits from her family. We never went home without a goody bag of baking. She really enjoyed going for coffee or lunch with Eileen, Helen, Agnes and Ida. She kept us entertained with her lively spirit, quick wit, sassy sense of humour and many life stories. She was full of energy, fun and never gave up on life. Peacefully on Sunday morning she fell asleep and left us to be with the God she loved and the many loved ones that were waiting to greet her with open arms. She was so precious to us, loved by so many and will be forever missed.
We are thankful that Mom never suffered, and would like to thank all the special doctors and health care providers; especially the Palliative Care team who went above and beyond to help and care for Mom with respect and dignity these last few months.
In accordance with Mom's wishes, a private family service was held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Manitoba or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • To my cousins Sharon, Gail and Gloria and their families. My familiy's and I deepest condolences on the passing of Aunty Marge. She was a very special lady and I have many recollections of family visits at our home and hers (Uncle George's) growing up. More recently would be telephone conversations with her myself and my wife Susan. She was really aware of things and always ready to chat and had a great sense of humour. You will be missed Aunty Marge. You are now with Uncle George in Heaven. GOD BLESS you. Bob Peleck (nephew), Susan, Kristen (Brian). - Posted by: Bob Peleck (Nephew) on: Oct 27, 2020

  • Sending my deepest sympathy to Sharon, Gail, Gloria and families. I have know Marg just about all my life, her and her husband were really good friends of my mom and dad, Ruth and Peter Funk. She truly was one of a kind, always a smile, and always had something nice to say. Now she is with her husband George, my mom and dad and my sweet sister Cindy. ( Cindy was like the 4th sister when she was growing up, always spending time with Marg and the family) and they will continue their friendship again. Thank you Sharon for always bringing your mom up to see my mom when she was in the hospital, it was so appreciated. Take Care and Stay Safe. - Posted by: Denise Funk (Life long friend, but I always called her our Auntie Marg. ) on: Oct 17, 2020

  • I am very saddened by my Aunt Margaret’s passing. She was a lovely lady, friendly and warm. I moved to Ontario many years ago so I didn’t see her often in her later years but I will always remember her beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eye. My heartfelt condolences to her family. She will be sadly missed and never forgotten. May she Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Rose Graham (Niece) on: Oct 12, 2020

  • To my cousins Sharon, Gail, Gloria and families. Sending you sympathy and love from my heart to yours. Auntie Margaret was my favourite auntie who was always so much fun to be around. Her smile could light up a room. I know you will miss your mom, but it is so comforting to know she is with Jesus and the good memories you all share will help you smile again. Hugs and prayers, your cousin Rhonda. - Posted by: Rhonda Martens (niece) on: Oct 11, 2020
