JAMES STANLEY BROWN
February 16, 1935 - October 6, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Stan Brown announces that he passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at the age of 85 years.
Stan was predeceased by his wife Bridie, daughter Janet Arnold, his parents, Lily and Freddie Brown, his brother Brendan, and his sister Clare Coyle. He will be greatly missed by his children, Don (Melody), Carol Sliboda (Steve), Stanley (Tracy) and son-in-law, Brian. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer (Sheldon), Danielle (Eric), Jamie (Tyrone), Kelsey, Shaun (Daphne), Emily and Riley. He will be missed by his great-grandchildren, Hailey, Braylon, Keenan, Kameron, Ryan and Declan. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family in Ireland, the UK and the United States.
Born is Derry, Northern Ireland, Stan lived there for his entire youth and into young adulthood. Stan met his wife of 63 years, Bridie, at a dance hall in Derry and they were married in 1956 until her passing in 2019. In 1967 Dad moved to Canada to establish a new life for his young family and was joined by his wife and four children in Canada in 1968. Originally moving to Portage La Prairie, they moved to Winnipeg in 1969. He began working the night shift as a baker for Safeway in 1967, where he remained employed until his retirement in 2000. Working the night shift, Dad always kept odd hours and did so until his passing. He could be found watching premier football and reading at all hours and made frequent trips to the public library, often coming and going with stacks of books. When Bridie retired, they would enjoy daily drives to the A&W in Lockport regardless of the weather. He was always friendly and happy, up for a good joke and had a great sense of humour.
Our entire family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Home for the wonderful care Dad received in the last few years of his life.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
