(nee CRUSE)

Peacefully on October 7, 2020, with her family by her side, Doris Gauthier passed away of natural causes at the age of 96.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory six children, Deanna, Don (Jeannine), Raymond (Jen), Elaine (Matt), Lynn (David), and Denis (Marlene); grandchildren, Michelle, Monique, Chantal, Lisa, Lee, Erin, Katie, and Anthony; as well as 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Jim Cruse (Chris) of Calgary; and one sister-in-law Angelina Duhamel. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Gauthier in 1990, her son-in-law Gerald Fraser, and two grandchildren, Brian Fraser and Donna Fraser-Carpenter.
Mom was born in St. Boniface on March 7, 1924. She spent the majority of her childhood in Ross, MB, where she met the love of her life, Alfred Gauthier of 47 years. They settled in Ross where they raised their family.
Mom loved baseball and supported her children and grandchildren, following them to whatever games and tournaments they were playing in. She enjoyed knitting mitts, tuques, scarves, etc., donating many of these items to CancerCare. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever cherish their handmade blankets, sweaters and christening gowns from Memere.
There will be a private service to celebrate her life.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, MB for the exceptional care given to Mom. A very special thank you to Mom's friend, and ours, Sister Irene Rioux for her loving care and spiritual support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Villa Youville in Ste. Anne.

  • I met Doris once when I visited Canada back in the 80s to catch up with Denis, a mate who I met a couple of years earlier in Australia. As brief as the meeting was I was taken in as if I was part of the family, Doris was so warm and loving that I was actually tempted to migrate to Canada. Doris, Denis and the whole family are always my heart and hope to one day soon, I will visit my friend Denis and his family and touch base with the rest of Doris Gauthier's family. Rest in peace!! <3 <3 - Posted by: Ray Samos (Friend) on: Oct 10, 2020
