ROBERT ELSON

This is not an obit. It's a farewell. But the most difficult part is to say goodbye to Dianne, my wonderful wife, partner, best friend, lover, homemaker, with a bubbly happy attitude (I'll accept a little credit) and ambitious, successful, courageous, and supportive of the man in her life. Thank you, my love, you're the greatest! After my many Canadian moves in the finance business, we had company transfers to Ohio, Georgia, California and back to Calgary. She persevered and changed employment numerous times. She won accolades wherever she went and retired as purchasing manager at the Calgary Herald. We travelled from Coast to Coast in Canada and the U.S., to Europe and Mexico and were snowbirds for 13 years. She made it all fun. The most difficult thing in the world for me to say is "Goodbye My Love" but I must. It is my time.
It is also very difficult to say goodbye to my three sons and their wives, Rick (Patrice), David (Linda), and Doug (Susan) and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. All three sons are better husbands and fathers than I ever knew how to be.
In my own way, I love all of them, but did not say it often enough. Please forgive me. Take care of everyone in our extended family, and try to keep some kind thoughts of your father and grandfather.
At my request, there will be no funeral service in conjunction with my burial. I only request that all relatives, friends, and everyone who knew me, raise a glass and drink a toast to Ol' Bob, but don't spill any. Thanks to all for such a great trip for a lifetime!
