On October 8, 2020, Lillian Toews answered the call of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to come home. Her mansion in heaven was ready. Lillian was 97 years old.
Lillian was born in Swan Plain, Saskatchewan to Roman and Maria Yaworsky. As a young woman, Lillian moved to Winnipeg. She married Erdman Toews in 1947, and together raised a family of two daughters. Lillian lived in Winnipeg until her passing. She was the last surviving member of her family of ten brothers and one sister.
Lillian loved sharing her joy of cooking. She was famous in her family for her perogies, cabbage rolls and apple pies. She loved her children and grandchildren, and prayed for them daily. She loved her church, Calvary Temple, and its community. Lillian passed her firm belief in God onto her children, as beloved mother of Joyce (Denis) Dressler, and Sandi (Harold) Helm. Lillian was grandmother to Chad (Liliana), Carleigh (Eric), Ashley (Jason), Mandy (Quincy), Colton; and great-grandmother to Anna, Micah, Lydia, Judah, Ethan, Alexa, Elise and Olivia. Lillian will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews; especially Christine, who has been a tremendous support over the years.
A special thanks to the amazing staff on 3 South at Calvary Place, and notably to Jonathan Arafiles for the kind care and compassion that he provided over Lillian's last years.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions on behalf of Lillian Toews can be made to Calvary Place, 1325 Erin Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 3R6.

  • Dear Sandi and Joyce, Sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She has been set free to enter the Father’s land ..of love and light. It was nice to be able to catch up with you from time to time as we both visited our Moms at Calvary Place. Praying for peace and comfort during this time of sadness.
