ANNETTE TENCHA-HAMEL
(née FREDETTE)

It is with greatest love and deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother and sister on October 9, 2020.
Annette is survived by her three children, James (Samantha), Joel, and Kimberly Tencha; two grandchildren, Noah and Jada; her brother, Joe (Astrid); her sisters, Denise Fredette, Louise (Eric) Ellison, and Ida (Aimé) Savoie; a very special cousin, Lorraine Fredette; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Fredette; and many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Garth Tencha and Wayne Hamel; her parents, Josaphat and Dorothée (née Laroche) Fredette; her brothers, Lucien (Alice), Paul (Fern), and Victor (Yvonne); sisters, Bertha (Jim) Wilson and Cécile (Gustave) Bergeron; sister-in-law, Carol Fredette; and nephews, Blake Fredette and John Ellison.
A born teacher, she spent fifty glorious years in education. Teaching was her passion, at any level from kindergarten to university. She will always be remembered as a consummate educator.
Her life was a living example of who she was, a compassionate, caring, supportive mother and grandmother. Her unconditional love nurtured us through life's challenges and greatest achievements. She lived her life with love, grace, humility, and faith. She has forever left an indelible mark on our lives.
Her journey on earth is over and she has crossed over to be with her God.
Our most sincere gratitude to the staff at ActionMarguerite (St. Boniface) 3rd floor D, who treated our mother with dignity and respect.
Cremation has taken place, and due to COVID-19, a celebration of Annette's life will be held at a later date.

Rest in peace Mom,
you will forever be in our hearts.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • James, Joel, Kim and your families, we offer our sincere sympathies for the loss of your mother and grandmother. Annette was indeed a dedicated educator and parent as we observed during her teaching stint in St-Pierre-Jolys. She was also an interesting coffee companion when our children played together. Annette had a extremely positive attitude and our work as co-educators (Edmond) as well as our get-togethers as parents (Aimée) were always plaisant experiences. - Posted by: Edmond & Aimée LaBossière (friends) on: Oct 18, 2020

  • Aunty Annette has always been a very special aunt, so giving, selfless, caring and a consummate writer and teacher. Her life stories always captivated her students, children, nieces and nephews. She always had a remarkable story to share with us and will be sadly missed, but it gives me comfort to know she has joined her parents and siblings who have left before her and await to celebrate her life. God bless you tante Annette! With much love Gisèle (your niece) - Posted by: Gisèle Fredette (Niece) on: Oct 18, 2020

  • Not only did Annette Tencha teach me she also taught our son Rheal. She has been a strong pillar in both our lives and her love and encouragements still move me forward. Our son had Muscular Dystrophy and has predeceased her but I remember her gentle attention to him and in building him up in his talents and in his faith. She certainly saw to the heart of a person. We offer our deepest condolences to the family and those who she was dearest to! A wonderful light has departed here and she sure to keep shining on even more greatly in heaven! - Posted by: Lucille Chaput (student at one time) on: Oct 18, 2020

- Posted by: Camille Légaré (ami) on: Oct 17, 2020

  • I remember the girls and their mother aunt Dorothy come to visit our grandmother, her sister and then when Annette came to St. Pierre as a teacher. She was a consummate individual, learned, devoted and wanting the best out of her students at all times. She will be sadly missed. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Paul Roy (cousin) on: Oct 17, 2020

  • My condolences to Kim and her brothers and families on the loss of their mother. As a colleague I can say that Annette was indeed a lovely person, caring and compassionate in every way. I loved her sense of humour!! I can still hear her laughter. She was unique!! I bumped into her a few years ago and we had a nice chat. 😀 All the best to you Kim and the family.
