EDNA PINNIGER
In her 97th year on Thursday, October 8, 2020, Edna passed away peacefully in her sleep. Until the last few years, Edna has led a pretty independent life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ted Pinniger, who passed away in 1993. She also was predeceased by two daughters, Georgina Phelan and Betty Pinniger.
She will be missed by her remaining three children, Cheryl Daunt, Donna Pinniger, and Gregory Pinniger. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was born in Stonewall, Manitoba in 1923. Sadly her birth mother passed away a month after her birth. That is how she became a member of two different families, the Lillies, her birth family; and the Halletts, her adopted family. They both were important parts of her life. She spent a big part of her growing up years in Birds Hill, Manitoba and another part in Stonewall, Manitoba. She has had an interesting and active life. She spent a great deal of time raising her young children and was the first Brown Owl In Birds Hill, Manitoba. She held that position long after her own children moved on. She loved to decorate, was an amazing cook, and was also an excellent seamstress. She eventually joined the workforce when her youngest child, Greg, was 14. She worked at Woolco for many years in the flooring department. After she retired at 65, she spent a great deal of time travelling and enjoying life. Close family members got the opportunity to say goodbye before she passed.
A special thanks to our family members, Jodie and Stacey Innes, for staying with her the last two nights before she passed. Special thanks to all the staff at Concordia Place that provided such excellent care for our Mother.
A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
