ANTONIA (NINA) DI LAZZARO
(nee MARDERO)

Antonia passed away peacefully on October 18, 2020, at the age of 89 years old.
Nina will be forever remembered and loved by her husband Luigi; daughter, Fernanda (Steve Hodgson); son, Robert (Heather Milne-Di Lazzaro); grandchildren, Kayleigh Hodgson (Kevin Gooch), Kevin Hodgson (Sydney Beales), Courtney Di Lazzaro (Tyler Dusanek) and Brenna Di Lazzaro (Carson Law); as well as her brother, Enea Mardero; brother-in-law, Romano Di Lazzaro; sisters-in-law, Alice Di Lazzaro, Pierina Di Lazzaro and Linda Bandong; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Enrica Mardero; her sisters, Elisa Mardero Martignoni and Ada Mardero Copetti; her brother, Bepi Mardero; her father and mother-in-law, Giovanni and Elvira Di Lazzaro; brothers-in-law, Pino and Nello Di Lazzaro; sister-in-law, Arpalice Di Lazzaro; and her granddaughter, Laura Di Lazzaro.
Antonia was born on October 5, 1931 in Gemona del Friuli, Italy, and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1958. She married her husband of 62 years, Luigi, and together they worked hard to provide for their family. They built a cottage at Valhalla Beach, where they loved to fish, garden, and visit with family and friends.
Antonia was a loving, good natured, cheerful person, who was generous and accepting of everyone. She loved nothing more than to be surrounded by family and friends. She lived to take care of others, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Memories of being with Nonna, gardening, making soup, gnocchi, pasta, crustoli, peanut butter cookies and peach cookies amongst her many other creative and fun activities will forever remain in their hearts.
We would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital 3 West for their compassion and caring they showed Antonia during these past months, and also to the home care staff who provided support to her prior to her hospitalization.
A private family interment has taken place.
If you wish, donations can be made in Mom's honour to a charity of your choice.
