JEAN MEEK
(nee ROBERTS)
August 20, 1923 - October 21, 2020

It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that our mother passed away at the young age of 97.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill; parents, Theresa and Hugh; sister Peggy (Elmer), and brother Gordon (Elsie)
She is survived by her son David (Angela); grandson Dawson; granddaughter Ella; daughter Diane (Les); many nieces and nephews across Canada.
Jean grew up in Weston and attended Daniel MacIntyre School where she met Bill, started dating in grade 8 and later married in 1945.
They moved to St. James where they raised the family, Jean worked at Eatons and later helped Dave with the family business.
She loved watching sports: hockey, baseball, curling. Mom was an avid knitter, reading and tending to her plants.
Summers were enjoyed at Longbow Lake near Kenora with the Leggetts; Jill (Bob), Rob (Bessie), Carly (Brian) and with Diane at Sunset Beach.
The family gratefully thanks the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, especially the staff of B2 ward.
Her final request was to be donated to the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine, Human Anatomy and Cell Sciences for Education and Research.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to their charity of choice.

  • Dear Diane and David, So sorry to read of your mom's passing recently and our thoughts are with you and your families and Bob, Carly and Rob. Jean was a life long friend of Al's mom, Ivy and we can recall many stories and photos of the beginning of their friendship in grade school along with Peggy and throughout their adult lives. They had a very special bond and always kept in touch and maintained that friendship for more than 80 years! May all the fond memories of Jean be a comfort to you all during this time of sorrow.
