MEG YAHIRO
Meg was predeceased by her husband, Frank (2016) and son Craig (2018). She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her son Scott; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ken Tresoor; brother Mak, and relatives, extended family, and dear friends.
Meg was born in Steveston, British Columbia on May 6, 1929; the middle child of seven. During the war, her family moved to Winnipeg where she attended Aberdeen School and St. John's Tech. She met her husband Frank and together they honed their dance moves as they often enjoyed cutting a rug during their 64 year marriage.
Meg spoke fondly of her time as secretary of Laura Secord School where she worked until the birth of their first child, Craig. Scott and Cheryl followed to complete their family. After Meg's early retirement, as she called it, she took great pride in being at home with her family. Meg and Frank built a wonderful life and raised their kids in East Kildonan where they resided until their passing.
Throughout her life, Meg was always very active and social. She was a stay-at-home mom who rarely stayed at home. Meg was a longtime member of Rossmere Golf and Country Club and Immanuel United Church. Over the years, she gladly volunteered her time to many organizations and events. Her interests and activities led to wonderful friendships which she cherished deeply. She filled her days golfing, curling, bowling, knitting and "lunching" with friends. Annual trips to Vegas and winter getaways to Arizona were favourite pastimes.
Growing up, Mom encouraged our involvement in sports and managed to attend all our activities. She was our number one fan. Food was always part of celebrating a win or consoling a loss. Mom's cooking and baking talents were extensive. Among our favourites, which many have enjoyed, were her Meg-rolls and Meg-bars.
Meg was a devoted mother and dear friend. Her kindness, generous spirit and beautiful soul will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to meet her. Mom was funny without even knowing it - the best kind of funny. She had us laughing right up until her final days with her quick wit and one-liners. She leaves us with precious memories that will be treasured forever.
Our sincerest thank you to the palliative care team of doctors and nurses for the compassion and care shown to Mom during her brief illness. Extreme gratitude is also extended for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. Due to current restrictions, a celebration of Meg's life will occur at a later date.
If friends so desire, please consider a donation to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

Mom faced her illness with courage and grace. We are grateful that we were able to care for her as she did for us all our lives.
We love you, Mom.
You will be in our hearts forever.

Scott, Cheryl and Ken - please accept my deepest condolences from the Moskal family to your entire family on the sad news of your mother's passing. Your mom was a wonderful, kind lady and had always a great smile and welcoming disposition about her. She was a staple around Rossmere Country Club, and boy what a great member to have. I will never forget both her and Frank going out of their way to ensure that they made an annual donation to our family's golf tournament... that meant so much to me. What a great, full and rewarding life that your mom had. Take comfort in all the wonderful memories that you have of her and know that others are thinking of you and your family at this time. Take care, my friends. - Posted by: Cam Moskal (Friend of the Yahiro Family) on: Nov 12, 2020

Where do I begin? My heart hurts for you and Scotty, the loss is so great and the void is real, but, how lucky were the 2 of you to have Meg as your mom? You won the lottery having her as your mom and top it off with Frank as your dad and Craig for a brother. So many memories, laughs, smiles and love. From trips to Laughlin, Vegas, Christmas and the 5 C's, her steady hand at playing Jenga, dinners at Kyotos, Hogan as her grand-dog and every thing in between. What a gift she was to you, your family and all of us as. May you find some peace in your heart with all of these memories and moments in life. It all seems like a dream at times but they were real. Sending HUGE hugs from AZ. XOXO Jane - Posted by: Jane Knutson (Friend) on: Nov 10, 2020

Meg and I met years ago through bowling at Roxy Lanes and curling at Rossmere. Meg was an avid golfer, but the only time we ever golfed together was our yearly curling league golf day in June. After she retired from curling, I mainly saw her on Sundays when she would pick me up for church and park in the McGurry driveway across from Immanuel Church. After church we would go to the White Rock for crepes, but when the place was sold, we started going to McDonalds for lunch. Of course, she always "insisted" on paying. She wasn't too comfortable driving very far, and eventually she just gave me her keys and said "you drive". My condolences to the family. I will really miss her. - Posted by: Joyce Boyechko (Friend) on: Nov 01, 2020

Scott, Cheryl and Ken We were so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. She was a really nice lady that I came to know over the years, being one of Craig’s friends. No matter where we saw her, even in the most recent years, she always seemed happy to see Cindy and I, and was very interested in what was going on in our lives. Sincere condolences to all of you. Scott, Cheryl & Ken...Our Thoughts and Prayers are with you. Meg was a Very Special Lady. By having known her, we are all better people as she enriched our lives with her caring and loving personality. She was a Comedian who could have made it in Vegas. The stories Debbie would tell me of their shopping trips in Phoenix are Memories we will never forget. Our Time spent with your Family in Arizona are Treasured Memories that we will hold in our Hearts. Craig told me once that Meg holds the Guiness World Record for playing 9 holes....11/2 hours on the golf course and 41/2 hours for Lunch... We thank the Lord for giving us Meg, but I guess he wanted her back. - Posted by: Cyril Zupan (Friend) on: Oct 31, 2020

This lovely lady left a smile on the faces of all who came in contact with her. I will miss seeing her Christmas Eve for the 5 c's, and I'll never play "left, right, centre", without thinking of her rolling her quarters, instead of the dice...perhaps the result of some Christmas Cheer! I loved being around her...pure joy! Rest peacefully in Paradise, Meg! - Posted by: Lynn Gacek (Friend) on: Oct 31, 2020

Extremely saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Meg. A wonderful, kind lady who has been in our hub of friends for over 50 odd years. We cherish our time with her and the fond memories that will always be a part of our lives. We know you are at peace, Meg and you and Frank are dancing up a storm as well as going out on the links with Craig. You were a very fortunate lady to have such wonderful children to look after you. First Craig and then Scott and Cheryl who cared for you until the end. With much love, Toshio, Susan and children - Posted by: Toshio and Susan Nishi (Friends) on: Oct 31, 2020

Truly one of a kind. Meg had a unique dry sense of humor that I loved. I saw Meg many times at Rossmere C.C and she always had an infectious smile for me and got a chuckle when I asked if she had futamaki lately! What a beautiful life she had. She will be missed. RIP Meg and say Hi to Frank and Craig for me. - Posted by: Pat Werestiuk (Friend) on: Oct 31, 2020
