BRUNA GIOVANNA DANDRI

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bruna Giovanna Dandri (Ulcigrai) at the age of 89, on Sunday, October 25, 2020.
Bruna was born in Isola D'Istria, Italy on August 29, 1931. She married Luigi (Gino) Mario Dandri on October 30, 1952. This week would have marked their 68th anniversary.
Bruna immigrated to Canada in March, 1957 with Gino and their daughter Maria. In Canada, they had another daughter Anne.
Bruna was a beautiful and strong woman. She was loved by many for her enigmatic personality. Bruna loved cooking and sewing for her loved ones, and of course dancing. She made friends wherever she went. Bruna fondly mentioned how she came to Canada as only three members but her family blossomed to more than twenty. Her family was her life!
Bruna was predeceased by her loving husband, Gino, and her parents. She is survived by two daughters, Maria Assunta (Howard), and Anne Maria (Bill); six grandchildren, Sabina, Dustin (Natalie), Stephanie (Ray), Jennefer (Leif), Jaana (Carlos), and Stevie-Ray (Elowen); ten great-grandchildren, Reid, Chase, Scarlett, Daisy, Apollo, Lana, Lucy, Luc, Aurora and Sophie; and her sister Gianna (Alfredo) in Italy; and many other relatives in Italy and New York.
Thank you to the incredible staff and volunteers at Misericordia Place who provided our mother/grandmother with such incredible truly loving care. Enough cannot be said.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Misericordia Place, 44 Furby St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2A1 or the charity close to Bruna's heart, SOS Children's Villages Canada,

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Anne and Maria So sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother. She always made me very welcome whenever I crossed the street to visit which was quite often. It is ironic that both of our mothers passed away on the same day after living across the street from each other for so many years. I believe that they were climbing the stairway to heaven together. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of you and your families. - Posted by: Connie Pope (Friend of Anne and neighbour) on: Nov 25, 2020
