My father and my entire family loved going to visit Jim when he had his take out across from the RCMP station on Portage Ave my friend Brian had his car dealership near by. Jim was an instant friend we enjoyed his company and his Halibut we followed him all over our beautiful city. He was always warm and friendly he loved my dad's English dialect which is known as Geordie. My dad passed many years ago but we always loved our time at Jim's be it the Viscount or McPhillips or down Portage Ave. I just read his obituary and was saddened to hear. To Jim's loved ones my whole family wishes you all the best. - Posted by: Alan Wilson (Loyal Customer ) on: Mar 15, 2023

I met Jim through a ski trip I was organizing that Wendy had decided to come on. We met and became friends almost immediately. I have moved many times due to work and lost touch with Jim and Wendy and have tried to search to no avail. I was extremely saddened by announcement of his passing. He lived large and was a great guy to be around. He will be sorely missed. Greg - Posted by: Greg Mohr (Friend) on: Nov 01, 2020

I first met Jim and Wendy and Jim was building his first fish shop on Portage Ave. Jim was still perfecting the batter for the halibut. He built the little shop by hand on his own and he hired me to be a counter help / sand which maker and he was in charge of the fryers. He really was a good guy and he and Wendy worked so hard building up Jim's fish and Chips. Wendy used to say when I sampled the new batter 'what do ya think Mitzi? I am saddened by the news of his passing. Jim would always say 'take care now' Wendy, May you move forward in peace, and now that I will be thinking of you and Jim for the rest of this evening. - Posted by: Merry-lynn Allison {Mitzi] (Friend /coworker at First Jim's Fish and Chips on Portage ave.) on: Oct 31, 2020
