SIMONE BEDNARZ
(nee NERYNCK)

Simone Bednarz of Swan Lake, MB, peacefully passed away at Riverview Health Centre on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the age of 90.
Simone, beloved wife of Ken Bednarz, much loved mother of Kimberley ( Martin) and Brad ( Cee Cee). Cherished grandmother of Kyle, Matthew( Amanda) and Allison. Great-grandmother to Olivia-Rose. Dear sister of Camille Neirinck, Yvonne Callum, Alice Saunders, and Irene ( Jerry) De Graeve. Remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Leon and Rosa.
Simone was born in 1930 in Bruxelles, MB. She took her nursing course in Winnipeg, later moving to Gladstone where she worked as a nurse, and where she met her future husband, Ken. They eventually settled in Winnipeg where they had two beautiful children, Kimberley and Bradley. Simone very much enjoyed the summers at their cottage in Vernon, BC. She was an avid bowler, winning multiple Women's League Championships at Academy Bowling Lanes. She was an enthusiastic crib player, who would rarely let you win.
Simone was a strong woman who led by example; determined and fiercely independent. She very much enjoyed the garden that she and Ken created. She loved baking, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Most of all, Simone was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. She treasured her husband and children. She had a wonderful personality, infectious smile, and always made the people around her feel loved.
We will forever miss her, and at the same time know that she will always be with us. We were blessed to have her for of all of these years and will love her always.

A heart stopped beating,
Two shining eyes are at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove,
He only takes the best.

Because of Covid restrictions, a private family internment will be held on Tuesday November 3, 2020, at Chapel Lawn.
Those wishing, may donate to the Cancer Society.

  • Times have been extremely difficult in this year of 2020. Losing my Mother, my son's grandmother, and my husband's mother-in-law has been extremely challenging. We are not able to be in Winnipeg at this time due to the covid pandemic. I want to send my utmost heartfelt gratitude, thanks and love to my rock, my proxy, my beautiful Aunty Anne Bednarz for her pure altruism in these stressful times. Anne is my father's sister, and my Mother's sister-in-law. Anne has been there from day one to love and support this family. Thank you is not enough. I also want to make a special mention to Gail Sitarz who is our earth angel and has also offered unconditional support and prayer. Always there for what ever is needed. Sending everyone much love, light and blessings. - Posted by: Kimberly Joy Bednarz (daughter) on: Oct 31, 2020

  • My sincerest condolences to Ken, Kim, Brad, and entire family and friends. Simone was a beautiful women who spread joy wherever she travelled. She was always willing to share her knowledge of baking, especially her "famous" poppycock recipe. Simone was like a big sister to me and helped me through many difficult times over the years - and there were a few of them. We enjoyed lot of fun times with our spouses on business and pleasure trips-especially in Vegas and Acapulco. I am so happy that I spent time speaking with Simone on the phone in mid September and we shared many memories. She was a very special person. I, along with many others, will miss her. May she rest in peace and may the love she had for her family, especially Ken and children, help them through this most difficult time of their lives. You are in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Valerie. - Posted by: VALERIE MORROW (Friend) on: Oct 31, 2020

  • Auntie Sim, is what I called her and I'm honored to have been able to be a part of the family even though I wasn't a relative. She was an amazing woman and great person...whom I loved dearly. She was the only person of my Mom's friends that when she passed she kept in touch with me on a very regular basis...it has been over 12 years since my Mom's passing. I loved my visits with Auntie Sim she had a world of knowledge that I can say has taught me some great lessons in my life. Her smile would light up any room that she was in and her hugs were the best. She always told me that she loved me and I know that she meant it...the world is missing an amazing, loving, and outstanding lady, who endlessly devoted her time to family and friends. My heart goes out to the family and I know that this will be a very difficult time without her. She is now in a better place watching over all of us... My sincerest condolences to the Bednarz Family..my thoughts are with you. Love Kim & Alain - Posted by: Kim Hekl (Family Friend) on: Oct 31, 2020

  • Joyce and I send our deepest condolences to Ken and the entire family. - Posted by: Ray Cherlet (Cousin) on: Oct 31, 2020
