RONALD HENRY JACK WHITTOM
His family moved to McCreary when he was eight years old and then to Winnipeg when he was 14. The bulk of his working years were spent at StandardAreo and Red River College, 15 years and 14 years respectively.
Ron met his true love, Maureen, at Home Street United Church Young People's Group in 1959 and they were married there in 1964. They had three children: Roneen (Brent), Kari (Bruce) and David (Debbie). He adored and loved spending time with his eight grandchildren and was excited about his first great-grandchild that is on the way!
Many happy times were spent at their cottage on Brerton Lake (1985 to 2007). Ron especially loved when the family would come out on weekends and for holidays. In 2007, they purchased a trailer and had it placed in Spruce Sands. They had many good times there until they sold it in 2013.
Ron was an active member of Sturgeon Creek United Church where he sang in the choir for more than 40 years and sat on the Finance and Property Committee for 16 years, chairing for the last 11. He was a member of the St. James Assiniboia Senior's Group where he enjoyed meeting weekly to share the camaraderie of friends and do woodburning.
In later years Ron and Maureen enjoyed winter holidays and cruises, their favourite being an Alaskan Cruise.
As per his wishes, a small family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or Manitoba Possible can be made.
