PATRICIA LYNN MACRAE
February 21, 1953 - October 28, 2020

In the early morning of October 28, Pat MacRae went home to her Lord, Jesus Christ, and her journey will continue in the hands of God.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Bob and Phyllis MacRae, brother Ian and sister-in-law Joan. She will be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Glenn and Ron, her Uncle Art from Victoria, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and the US.
Pat attended and graduated from Elmwood High School and moved to Victoria with her parents in 1972. She received her degree in French at the University of Victoria and attended a language school in Grenoble, France. She then spent a year in Cannes teaching English. Later, she continued her education at Concordia University in Montreal where she received her Masters in Applied Linguistics.
Pat spent most of her career with the Winnipeg School Division teaching English to new Canadians which she retired from in 2018. She also spent many summers working at Grand Beach as a Park Attendant. She loved the beaches in Manitoba.
Pat enjoyed travelling and spent time in Europe, South America and went on a Mission trip to Africa. She also spent many summers camping throughout the US and Canada. In her younger years she spent many summers in Arden, which was a very special place to her.
Family was very important to Patty and she spent lots of time watching her nieces and nephews participating in various activities. She was proud of each and every one of them. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and took interest in all of our lives. No matter how big or small the news was, she wanted to hear about it.
Pat touched many peoples lives and was actively involved in different churches in Winnipeg and Victoria. She had many lifelong friends and always made a point to keep in touch with people over the years. She will be missed by many people.
We would like to express our thanks to the amazing group of people at CancerCare and at Riverview Health Centre.
As per Patty's wishes, there will not be a service.
Please say a prayer for her and if so desired make a donation to your local church or to CancerCare Manitoba.

  • Just would like to take this opportunity to pass on my condolences to Glenn and Ron. Patty was one of the bright lights in Elmwood. • I had the privilege of working with Pat for many years in the WSD #1 Adult ESL program. • I remember Pat from the years we taught EAL. She was always a pleasure to be around and I know how effective she was as a teacher. Pat participated in many activities outside of school and yet she was never one to talk about herself. Pat you will be missed by those whose lives you enhanced. - Posted by: Sherna Posner (teacher) on: Nov 07, 2020

  • My cousin Patty was a special person. So kind and always thinking of others. I have many fond memories of time spent with Patty and the Manitoba MacRaes while growing up and how we remained connected through the years. Patty’s battle with cancer was courageous and demonstrated her grace and faith. God bless Patty. May you Rest In Peace. We will miss you and cherish your memory.
