RICHARD DREGER

Our beloved Richard went to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 30, 2020, at the age of 75, after years of struggles with his health and his last years with dementia. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Richard always made everyone in the room smile. His love for his family was unconditional and his sense of humour, kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Richard was blessed with a large and devoted family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Renate. Also missed by his children, Robert, Kristy (Shawn) and Steven (Lauren); and his granddaughters, Taylor, Ellie and Shae. His brother Ed (Shirley), stepsister Loni, uncle Alex (Lydia), and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Rudolf and Olga (Boettcher) Dreger; and his brothers, Erwin, Arthur, Jonas; and sisters, Marlis, Adele, Elsie and Olga.
Many thanks to the staff at Victoria Hospital 4N who were so kind and caring to Richard. Also, thank you to the staff at Misericordia Health Centre PRIME. It was a wonderful place for Richard and we thank you for treating Richard like family - especially Wendy Todd and Dr. Tretiak. Also a special thank you to Kenn Malaluan who cared for Richard in the last months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Richards memory to the Home of the Good Shepard's Ministries in Brazil. The mailing address is: P.O. Box 34127, RPO Fort Richmond, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5TS.
Interment by invitation only due to restrictions will be held November 7, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor T. Crook.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to Renate and family. I cherish fond memories of being a soccer dad with Richard as we watched our boys, Curtis and Steven, play and win 5 or 6 city championships in a row. He was always so pleasant and would always share one or two of his many jokes and stories. - Posted by: Rick Valcourt (Friend) on: Nov 13, 2020

His huge smile, corny jokes and warm handshake make me feel truly welcomed. I will long remember his sincere interest in me and my family. I’m truly sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Rick Hansen (Friend) on: Nov 09, 2020

  • Sending my love and prayers to Renate and family. Richard was an integral part of my church family and I so enjoyed his cheeky comments and cheerful disposition. Even in his progressive dementia, I always found him friendly and engaging. Richard, rest in peace - and Renate, may God's presence be your comfort. - Posted by: Bev Kroeker (Friend) on: Nov 08, 2020

  • Gavin and I want to send our heart felt condolences to Renata and family. We are sorry to hear about Richard, but rejoice in the knowledge that he is with Jesus and we will see him again. Richard was a jokester and we always wondered what he would say to us. Lots of fond memories at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church. We are happy to have known Richard.
