DAVE NOWLIN
As a dedicated family man, Dave loved his wife and family very much. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Carol, children, Vince (Gwen), Wayne (Raquel), Rikki, Kevin (Kelly), Cory, Joey, Tracy (Ronnie), Jaya (Antonio), Andrea (Jose), step and honorary children, Shaun, Rika, Rian (Angela), Leo and Germaine (Sabrina); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six siblings, extended family and numerous friends.
Dave was a kind and easygoing guy who didn't get upset easily. Although he was generally reserved, he was very sociable with those he knew, and liked nothing better than hosting gatherings for family and friends. He would often say that in another life he'd like to run a motel or a resort.
Dave's favourite pastime was exploring far away places. He and Carol loved welcoming family and friends to share in their travel adventures, whether a condo in Orlando, cruising, or resort holidays. He especially loved taking road trips with Carol. As the oldest of eight siblings, his favourite road trip was driving to British Columbia to visit family in the Okanagan and Maple Ridge, spending time with brother Guy and family on the way.
Dave was an avid pool player for many years. The kids have many fond memories of shooting a game with their dad on the family pool table, and Tuesday evening pool league with his Inforbeer pool buddies was sacrosanct.
Dave's passions were very apparent in his life. He loved astronomy, US politics, physics, and philosophical discussions on atheism and the meaning of life, just to name a few. He strived to always learn new things and expand his mind. As an enthusiastic DIYer, Dave loved building things with his hands. His ability to create projects from scratch and the skills he used to accomplish them was a sight to be appreciated. He was also a wine connoisseur of sorts and made the most beautiful wine spirits. He shared his tasty delights with his lovely wife and with whomever visited.
We want to thank all of the doctors and staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Palliative Care and home care. Without their excellent care, we would not have been able to honour Dave's wish to complete his life journey peacefully at home.
We will hold a celebration of Dave's life at a later date.
We would ask anyone who wishes to honour Dave's memory, to donate to research into cures for Glioblastoma brain cancer.
Dave will be missed greatly and will be in our hearts always.
Here's to you Dave, may you be travelling to far off galaxies and experiencing the beauty of the universe. Love you always and forever.

Couldn't have asked for a better grandpa. He loved playing Descent II Rebirth on his mid 2010's gaming desktop, blasting the volume of those sick midi's while navigating the halls with a pro flight-stick on a surround sound system and a giant projected screen on the wall. Drove grandma crazy but I just thought it was awesome. Aside from his awesome modernized 1970's home brew computer-esque hobbies, he loved the gorillaz, some hip-hop/r&b songs, and stuff you wouldn't expect a 70 year old man to like. I miss him a lot, coolest grandpa I could have asked for. miss you, Dave. - Posted by: Starr Hazen (Grandson) on: Dec 27, 2023
