ROBERT HYMAN

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Sheldon (Robbie) Hyman, 77, who passed away in Winnipeg October 30, 2020, after a brief illness, with his wife and two children by his side.
He was predeceased by his first wife Gail Hyman (nee Nitikman) in 1983. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Barbara Hyman (nee Cohen); his children, Allison (Robert) Axelrod, Hartley ( Rishona) Hyman; his grandchildren, Gavin and Steven Axelrod and Gregory and Izzie Hyman; and his brother Stanley Hyman. He will be deeply missed by his many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends both near and far.
Robbie's primary joy in life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and the most loving grandfather. He helped take care of his parents and Gail's uncle, Itz Nitikman. Following the untimely passing of Gail, Robbie lovingly took on the role of both father and mother to his then 12 and 10 year old children. He became 'Zaidy' when grandchildren arrived, taking on babysitting, drop-offs, pick-ups, sleepovers and spectating at many events. One only needed to ask "Zaidy" once and he would be there.
Private funeral services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery on November 1, 2020.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Robert and Barbara Hyman Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, or a charity of your choice.
