Heinrich (Henry) Sawatzky of St. Andrews, MB passed away on November 9, 2020, at the age of 80.
He was born in Stuartburn, MB and lived in both Paraguay and Winnipeg before establishing a special place for his family in St. Andrews.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Sharon (Randy), and Kathy (Jordan), grandchildren, Matthew (Kayla), Alexa and little Henry. He was a father, a brother, and an uncle; pre-deceased by parents, Heinrich and Justina.
He loved and took great pride in his work. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a strong work ethic to his family. His many, many projects over nearly six decades will remain a legacy to his family, and a gift to strangers throughout the city and surrounding area. At 76, Henry retired from Parkwest Projects Ltd.
On Sundays, Henry enjoyed the park with his family, a bucket of chicken, attending festivals, listening to music, watching sports, and especially faspa. Later in life, Henry really enjoyed joking around with his son(s)-in-law, girls, and grandkids.
We are truly heart-broken we won't be looking into those bright blue smiling eyes for some time but will take solace that the sky will only be brighter because of him.
A special thank you to Area 4 staff at the geriatric program, Selkirk Mental Health Centre for their compassion and kindness to Dad and the incredible support they provided to us.
A Celebration of Life will be held in 2021, a private family service took place on November 12, 2020.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I had the privilege of knowing Henry through work. He was the most dependable and skilled worker in his craft, which arguably was everything construction related. He taught me to be ready and willing to undertake hard and challenging tasks and take pride in your work. Never get excited or anxious, because proper planning and execution will see you through. Thank you - Posted by: Rolfe Bergen (Friend) on: Nov 26, 2020

  • Mr Sawatzky was my lifelong neighbor. I have warm memories of our conversations over-the-fence. He was a gentle soul who inspired me when I grieved a loss and I regained strength to move forward again with my life. He will be missed. May God Bless your soul. - Posted by: Guy Shelemy (neighbour across the road) on: Nov 16, 2020
