SANDRA CECILE MAREK
February 26, 1960 - November 11, 2020

It is with a sad heart that the family of Sandra Cecile Marek announces her passing on November 11, 2020, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, she was 60 years old.
Sandra has joined her beloved father and mother, Joe and Wilma Marek; her brother George; and her grandparents, John and Mary Bialek and George and Rose Marek, all from the Beausejour area.
She will be dearly missed by her siblings - Karen (Marek) and Mark Johnson; Donna (Marek) and David Oike; Joe and Brenda (Boswell) Marek; Christopher Marek and Albert Dell; Christine (Marek) and Gordon Hemminger; Linda Marek; Robert Marek and Andre Darche. Also, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Thanks to Sandra's longtime friends, Mylis and Gord Dunn, and especially to cousins Karen and Marek Corbett who were always there for Sandra when we couldn't be. Also, thanks to Auntie Phyllis Marek for her support. Special thanks to Luther Care Home staff, she enjoyed her time there over the last nine months.
Sandra was a quiet and gentle, loving soul. Sandra grew up in Elmwood where she attended Glenelm Elementary, Lord Selkirk School and Elmwood High. Her immediate and extended family and friends were the most important thing to her. She was always sending small gifts and cards to those who were celebrating birthdays or anniversaries, as well as frequent calls to connect. She was well known for her Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners where she would invite people over who did not have family of their own to celebrate the occasion.

Love you Sandra,
say hi to Mom and Dad for us.

A memorial service for close family will be held at a later date.
No flowers please, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • So sorry to hear about Sandra. She was a former student at Elmwood and I was so surprised to see her in the Beausejour area a few years back. The smile was still there as was the happiness to see someone from her past. We reminisced and she spoke so lovingly of all of you, her siblings and family. My family and I send our sincere condolences and wish you all love and safety in these difficult times. • Sandra was a warm, caring and loving individual. She babysat for me regularly and would then take the kids for a treat on her the next day. She helped me out on numerous occasions and always cheerfully. The world was a better place for her having been here. • Sandra and I grew up together on Martin Ave. I remember walking to Elmwood High with her everyday and both of us complaining on how far it was. In later years I would run into her waiting for a bus downtown and it was like we never missed a beat. You will be missed. Condolences to her family. Rest In Peace.
