GERALDINE (GERRI) ALEXIUK
She is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Janice (Neil), Michele (Murray), Donna (Lawrence), and Barry and grandchildren, Mark (Demi), Randy, Jamie, Vaughan, Callum, and Shelby. As well as her special Uncle George Peterson and family.
Mom was a special person who was the centre of our family. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mom, and grandmother and she was the best at all of them. Mom was always supportive, always gracious, and always thankful. She welcomed all who stopped by for visits or large impromptu gatherings, enjoyed celebrations with friends and had a lot of fun at extended family get togethers, serving her famous brownies. Gerri grew up and lived in St. Vital her entire life, attending school (loved running track), meeting friends, working retail, helping to raise her grandchildren and helping with childcare for friends and extended family. We are grateful to her special neighbours on each side, for the kindness, support, and friendship they showed Mom over the many years.
We thank the ICU staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. They truly are the ultimate heroes during this devastating pandemic.
No service will be held at this time.
Mom had a special place in her heart for dogs and cats. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Craig Street Cats or Manitoba Underdog Rescue.

Our most sincere condolences to Mike and family. Gerri and I grew up together. I spent summers at West Hawk lake with her and her mom and Nan and Granddad. We hung out with the gang at the “end of the “car-line”; also at Norberry Community Club where she was voted Carnival Queen one year. We stayed in touch over the years and she and Mike were always part of our yearly trip back to Winnipeg. She was a very special person, and always had a smile. So sorry for your loss. Love, Dennis and Lyn. - Posted by: Linnea (Lyn) Wilkins (Friend) on: Nov 16, 2020

I was a neighbour of your Great Grandma and Mum for many years. She was only 6 years older than I was and 4 years older than my sister but when Mrs. Peterson could not babysit us for whatever reason Gerri did. We had a baby sitter until we were bigger than the babysitter. Gerri was a beautiful person and very kind. We knew the full Peterson family and Gerri's Mom Nancy use to drive to work with my dad. Morris and George were around our house quite a bit and of course Mr. & Mrs Peterson were our babysitter's. It was a great family. My Mom and Dad have passed but my son lives in their house at the corner of St. Thomas and Fermor still. You all have our deepest condolences on Geri's passing. Keep all the special memories in your heart. I remember your family with great memories and all the love they showed us. Many of we Glenlawn boys had a crush on Geri but Mike was the lucky one. I remember her running track and winning. She was not long and lean as it seems runners always are. I have not had any contact with her since we all went our separate ways after high school but obviously Geri was memorable. To Mike and all who loved her, I know I join with many friends old and new in expressing our sorrow. - Posted by: Murray Parker (old school mate) on: Nov 14, 2020

Mike, Janice, Michelle, Donna and Barry, my Heart is Heavy with you. I always felt that Gerri was a second Mom. We grew up together 7 houses away, and Michelle and I were together at times 24/7. I always felt part of your family and enjoyed many hours with you all. Gerri loved her garden, family and neighbours. She was always there. My heart is with you all. My most sincere condolences to Michael, Janice, Michelle, Donna and Barry and your families. During our teen years the Alexiuk family home was a most welcoming, warm and gracious gathering place for all our friends. Your Mom was truly one of the most special of people I have met in life. She was so kind, caring and a whole lot of fun. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Randy Vertone (Friend) on: Nov 14, 2020
