PATRICIA JEAN KAVALEC
Predeceased in 2013 by her husband of 65 years, Stanley Kavalec and by her sister Irene Markusa in 1991. Sadly missed by her children: Ken (Suzanne), Gord (Susan), Doug (Susanne) and Joanne Stewart (Jim); by her grandchildren: Joy, Travis (Cherie), Sarah (Robin), Rikilea (Liam), Lindsay, Brandon, Alexandra, Matthew; and by her great-grandchildren: Chase and Landen. Also missed by her niece, Barbara Markusa of Winnipeg.
Pat (as she was known) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba but moved to Surrey, BC with her husband Stan and kids in 1964; although she missed family and friends she quickly embraced her new life in British Columbia. She was an exemplary Executive Assistant at both Kwantlen and Douglas College before retiring in 1988. She was always "on the go" cooking, gardening, golfing, bowling or walking her daily two miles around Bear Creek Park track. A lifelong lover of animals, especially dogs, she owned several over the years and was a committed supporter of the SPCA. Her cooking was legendary and she will forever be remembered for her signature cabbage rolls and perogies and many other recipes that will live on with her children and grandchildren. But most of all, Mom was known for her unconditional love and selfless support of her family. She will be missed with heavy hearts and cherished memories.
An intimate, family-only service will be held on November 17.
In lieu of flowers or cards, donations to the SPCA are kindly appreciated.
