DWIGHT HIEBERT

July 9, 1963-Oct. 24, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear brother and son, Dwight Hiebert, on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at the age of 57 years. Dwight died peacefully in Winnipeg at the Grace Hospital. The family thanks the staff in the ICU of Grace Hospital for their compassionate care.

Dwight was born in Steinbach to Peter A. and Martha Hiebert. Dwight loved sports, especially hockey and golf. He was a high achiever in school and graduated from the Steinbach Regional Secondary School with honours.

He gave his life to Jesus as a child and was baptized on the confession of his faith at the Steinbach EMC. He nurtured his faith by attending the services and Bible studies at Union Gospel Mission (UGM). He also spent a year living at UGM.

Dwight was a gentle soul, humble and kind, who put others ahead of himself. His friends would often speak of these qualities in Dwight and how much they appreciated him.

Dwight was a gifted piano player who used his talent to bless many people. He played for UGM Bible studies and for a house church in Winnipeg.

Dwight was predeceased by his father Peter A. Hiebert and his stepfather Edward Reimer. He is survived by his mother Martha Reimer, brother Randy and wife Sigi, brother Glenn and wife Shawna, and sister Rhonda and husband Tony, as well as five nieces and nephews.

We mourn his passing but understand that the best thing a person can do in life is stay in fellowship with the Lord in order to receive the reward of heaven, and Dwight did that.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission, Winnipeg. If donating online, please indicate the gift is in memory of Dwight Hiebert, at https://www.gospelmission.ca/donate/donate.

The funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with ash interment at a later date. Viewing will be at the chapel prior to the service.
