George Falk, 89, of Steinbach, MB, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020.
He was born Oct. 10, 1931 to George P. and Katherine Falk in Altona, MB. At the age of 15, the family moved to Pansy. He was baptized May 1949 at Weidenfeld CMC. He spent most of his life living on hobby farms.
George married Frieda Rempel on June 18, 1955, and they enjoyed 65 years together.
He worked for Manitoba Telephone for 10 years. He then got his carpenter journeyman certificate and went into construction. Later in life, he worked for the Government of Manitoba, managing their employment program for eight years. For the last 18 years before retirement, George worked as maintenance supervisor for Hanover School Division.
George is survived by his wife, Frieda; children, Wilbert (Alvina), Phyllis Wiebe, and Tony (Eunice); six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Tina, brother Pete (Susie), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents George and Katherine Falk, son-in-law Harvey Wiebe, one brother and four sisters.
The family would like to thank Dr Krahn, Debbie Krahn, and members of the church who came to minister and sing.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. at Steinbach Sommerfeld Church, with interment at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church Cemetery, New Bothwell. A livestreamed video may be viewed on the church website www.steinbachsommerfeld.ca.
