LEONEL CUNHA VAZ
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Maria; his sons, Fernando, Simplicio and Jose Luis (Dora); his precious grandchildren, Christopher (Julie), Susanne, Elena and Gabriella; his sisters, Maria Martins, Alcina Canto and Ilda Castro; brother-in-law Jose Luis Martins (Nezia) and sister-in-law Diane Vaz; his four great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Sebastiao and Beatriz Vaz, brother Fernando Vaz; sister Evangelista Vaz and granddaughter Carla Hakim.
Leonel was born in Sao Juliao, Valença, Portugal on November 30, 1935. He immigrated to Canada in February of 1960 settling in Winnipeg. When he arrived in Winnipeg his work endeavours included working as a taxi / limo driver before owning his own Portuguese Club.
Leonel enjoyed hunting, playing dominos, watching soccer and spending his time at his son's club.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private viewing will be held for family only.
