It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of, Dorothy who went peacefully, with her loving family by her side at the St. Boniface Hospital on November 18, 2020.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Morris in 2004, her parents, William and Christina Sacher, brothers Clarence and Don, sister Florence Risvold and brothers and sisters-in-law Pat Sacher, Frank and Sandy Miller, Joyce Sacher and Norm Miller.
She is survived by son Jack (Donna), grandchildren, Kristin Orvis (Brad), Rebecca, Jack (Danielle), son Murray (Cathy) step sons Brian, Cory (Jaime) and Kevin, brother, Harold and sisters-in-law Clara Sacher and Ellen Miller, as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was born on July 19, 1935, in Lampman, Saskatchewan and grew up in Browning, Estevan as well as the North end of Winnipeg. She graduated from Tec Voc High School. She worked for 28 years at Eaton's downtown in various departments. Dorothy remained active throughout her life whether it was doing her daily exercise routine, belly dancing, bowling or outings with the Red Hat ladies and senior groups. She loved playing bingo and enjoyed watching a variety of sports. Her greatest blessings were any and all time spent with family and friends.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a virtual Celebration of Life will be live streamed from the Chapel Lawn's website on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Please contract Chapel Lawn Funeral Home for the link and password. A private family interment will follow the service.
Special thanks to the staff at the I.H. Asper Institute in ICCU for the kind and compassionate care shown to Dorothy and her family.

  • I first met Dorothy at James Richardson, in 1956. She was so much fun. Later our husbands became friends & we enjoyed many fun times together. She was so kind, affectionate, & smart.
