KATHERINE "KAY" PAULS

Kay Pauls (Katherine Marie Siemens) of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on November 24, 2020, with her children by her side.
She was born on a farm near Boissevain, Manitoba on October 30, 1931, to Henry and Catherine Siemens. Kay's early years were spent in Boissevain and Ninga. She completed her education in Winkler in 1951. Kay moved to Winnipeg a few years later where she worked as a bookkeeper at a construction company and later as a secretary at MBCI. Kay married Hugo Pauls on April 3, 1971. They welcomed two children, John in 1973 and Kathy in 1978. Kay enjoyed volunteering at Harrow School, the Pregnancy Distress Thrift Store, and at Portage Avenue Church. She was instrumental to the Funeral Committee at church for many years and served food at over 100 funerals.
Kay's faith and family were especially important to her. She was a prayer warrior who always had a positive attitude. Kay could often be found at the kitchen table praying for her family and friends. One thing Kay will be remembered for is calling her extended family members on their birthdays. The door was always open at Kay and Hugo's home and they welcomed everyone.
Kay loved baking, especially cookies for her grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, reading, and doing word searches. Kay and Hugo enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family as well as 'going Manitoba-ing'. They spent many evenings watching sports, and curling was one of Kay's favourites.
Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband, Hugo, in 2016. Left to cherish her memory is her son John (Karen) Pauls and their children Gavin and Korbin; her daughter Kathy (Todd) Farrell and their children Noah, Easton, and Emma. Kay was an amazing and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

"Be still and know that I am God."

Psalm 46:10

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Kay Pauls was the secretary at the high school I attended. She was also the sister of my father's secretary at his electrical contracting company. Kay was a woman of faith, an outgoing, affable person who was easy to like. Her son and our son were friends in high school. Kay baked nutritious brown bread in her bread machine and sold or gave it to her friends. Our family bought many loaves. She was a loving person. My husband, Jim, and I send our condolences to her family. - Posted by: Charlotte Holland (Friend) on: Jan 27, 2021
