Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMERINO: Charlotte Edna "Lottie" Merino (nee Wood) passed away peacefully at Fairview Home on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the age of 99 years. Lottie, the youngest child of Steven and Annie Wood, was born on June 28, 1921 in Boissevain, MB. She received her education in Elva and Hartney schools. At the age of 16 years, Lottie joined the Manitoba Telephone System in Hartney and was employed by the company for 18 years, spending the last 13 years in the Boissevain office. Lottie married Anthony Merino of Winnipeg on August 5, 1944 and they resided in Boissevain, where Lottie was an active member of the United Church. The family moved to Brandon in 1954, and Lottie continued to work in the church, being active in the choir, ladies trio, teaching Sunday school and serving in the Missionary Society. For many years Lottie's summers were spent at the cabin at Clear Lake making special memories with her family. Quiet days at home were spent quilting, crocheting, baking and doing crossword puzzles. Lottie had the privilege of serving as a receptionist for the late Walter Dinsdale and Ken Burgess respectively when they ran for office. Lottie and her husband also owned and operated David Lawrence Men's Wear in the Shoppers Mall until their retirement. She looked forward to their trips to California, Florida, Hawaii, etc. and she never ceased to be in awe of the beauty of God's creation everywhere she travelled. A source of great joy to Lottie were her 5 grandchildren and 12 precious great-grandchildren. She would plan family get-togethers whenever possible and took great pleasure in baking her special cookies and dainties for all to enjoy. Besides her parents, Lottie was predeceased by her husband Anthony in 1983, brothers Clemens, Alvin and Roy Wood, sister Jean English, brothers-in-law Norman Sutherland and Art English, niece Anne Winiarki, nephew Glenn Sutherland and sister-in-law Jean Wood. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Roy (Shirley) of Brandon and Don (Joan) of Calgary, AB and daughter Joan (Norman) Lepp of Clear Lake; grandchildren Lisa (Michael) Adams and children Jared, Jesse, Jalin and Joslyn of Neepawa, Craig (Jaimie) Merino of Saskatoon, SK and their mother Jan Merino of Brandon; Sean (Beth) Merino and children Audra (Zac), Zac and AJ of Calgary and Nanaimo, BC, Darren (Jeannine) Merino and children Kienan and Alicia of Cochrane, AB, Sherry (Jon) Merino and children Alexandra, Sloane and Iain of Red Deer; and nieces and nephews. In accordance with Lottie's wishes, cremation has taken place and the Celebration of Lottie's Life will take place at a later date at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Lottie may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to recognize and thank the Care Team and caregivers at Fairview Home who were so dedicated, caring and kind to Mom.
