PAUL ILLCHUK

After a long and full life, it is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Illchuk at Concordia Hospital on November 24, 2020.
Paul will be greatly missed by his wife Anne; daughter Marilyn; son Perry (Dianne); grandchildren, Clinton, Amanda (Lazlo), Tamara (Brett); stepgrandchildren, Cory (Heather), Keith; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Steve; and his siblings, Mike, John, George, Catherine and Bill.
Paul was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on July 12, 1931. He moved into Winnipeg around 1945 when his mom took ill.
Paul worked at the St. Charles Hotel for a few years, and then in 1950 started with the City of Winnipeg Water and Waste Department, and was there till he retired in 1986.
Paul was a devoted husband to Anne for 67 years, and a kind, generous and loving father to his children. He took immense pride in his home and yards. Paul had a great love for music, dancing and entertaining family and friends with his wonderful sense of humour. He also loved animals, and always had at least one or two pets. In his later years he spent numerous hours with his wife in Betel Care Home, and enjoyed conversing with other residents and staff.
Many thanks to Deborah of pastoral care, and the nurses on 1North of Concordia Hospital.
A private service will take place at Chapel Lawn on December 3, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.
A celebration of Paul's life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or an animal rescue centre of your choice.

  • So sorry Marilyn (and rest of the family) to hear of your Dad's passing. You just got him settled into his new home. We never like to lose our parents, they mean so much to us. May you find comfort in the many memories you have, and still be there for your mom. Thinking of you at this time. Sincerely, John and Elaine Vandermeulen from Carman. - Posted by: John and Elaine Vandermeulen (Great-grandaughter Chelsea's mom and dad in-law) on: Dec 05, 2020
