KENNETH CARSON
He will be missed by Betty, his wife of 71 years; his children, James (Lilja), Connie (Bob), Susan and Patti (Sean); his grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott), Heather (Michael), William (Renee), Valerie (Michael) and Bogdan; and his great-grandchildren, Quentin, Colton (Haley), Olivia, Georgia, Finn and Rowan.
Ken was born on the family farm near Forward, Saskatchewan and he grew up in nearby Weyburn. He played high school basketball. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1944, serving until 1947. His wartime service was on ships providing convoy escort in the North Atlantic. Ken returned to Saskatchewan and later, Manitoba. After a 30 year career in sales, Ken and his wife Betty owned and operated Carson Pharmacy in Lac du Bonnet.
Ken was a member of the Lac du Bonnet Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. He and Betty participated in the High Steppers Senior Club and were long term members of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Ken was active in the outdoors being an avid hunter and fisherman. He and Betty took long walks with their beloved dog Mike. Later he greatly enjoyed time with family at his cabin at Grand Beach. Ken and Betty travelled extensively in Canada and throughout the USA. They took trips to Europe, Asia and New Zealand. In retirement Ken and Betty wintered in Hawaii, avoiding all exposure to snow for almost 20 years.
Ken was cheerful and positive, and very kind. Singing and reciting poetry featured prominently at social and family gatherings. A favourite and often repeated poem INVICTUS by W. Henley ended:
"....I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul."
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a safe time in the future.

Connie and family, I was so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Here are some of my memories. Mr. Carson what a life you had, thank you for letting me share briefly and sporadically in it with your family. Our families met at Waskesui in the early 1960's. and then while on Garrison Cres. in Saskatoon my visits mainly with Connie were well received. When you came back to Saskatoon for visits from Winnipeg, you included me in some activity ( I didn't fare well at crib). Connie thank you for sharing your dad and family with me. Whenever I visited you in Winnipeg we always made a trip to visit your folks, be it at Lac du Bonnet, Grand Beach (my favourite) or in Winnipeg. I was always so pleased to visit and have tea or a meal with them. It is so hard to lose a spouse and a dad, your memories and love for them do not fade. We can only hope that they are in a good place, free of pain and totally enjoying themselves. So Mrs. Carson, Connie, James, Susan, Patti and families remember the good times, the laughter and singing. With sympathy and hugs Barb. - Posted by: Barb West --Saskatoon (Connie's Friend) on: Dec 15, 2020
