JAMES FEINDEL
Jim is survived by his loving wife Gale; daughter Shannon Feindel (Shane Munro) of Canmore, AB, and son Scott Feindel of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Tasmin and Jordy Munro of Canmore; brother David Feindel (Pamela) of Halifax, NS; and niece Jessica Leverman of Moncton, NB.
Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jim enjoyed a lifelong attraction to the outdoors that began as a teenager with summer camping and beach exploring along the south shore of Nova Scotia. After graduating from Saint Mary's University with a B.Com. in economics, Jim began a distinguished career in government service. This included 35 years with the Government of Manitoba where he managed the Department of Economic Development. In that role Jim promoted and organized international trade arrangements between businesses in the UK/Europe and Manitoba. The people of Manitoba benefitted from the economic spin-offs of his successful trade work.
Jim loved his family and was always there to support them. Family get-togethers were a regular occurrence at Belair. Gardening was Jim's favourite hobby. Flower and vegetable gardens were a hallmark of the Belair property.
Jim and Gale spent many wonderful winters in Puerto Vallarta, where they welcomed Shannon, Scott and their families to join them for fabulous vacations. Jim was never shy about expressing his opinions on numerous topics. When David and Pam visited Puerto Vallarta, lively political discussions often ensued with Jim. Jim would have agreed with Frank Sinatra's approach to living life on his own terms as expressed by song in "My Way".
Jim will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Interment will be in the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Halifax at a later date.
