TAMARA PEABODY ROMANOVYCH
1967 - 2020

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Tamara Lynn, beautiful wife to Andy, mother to Drew (Haley), sister to Tim (Kim), daughter to Bernice, a cousin, an aunt, and dear friend to many. Tamara was predeceased by her father Roy (2004). Tamara passed away after complications from ovarian cancer, a disease in which there is no adequate screening for.
We are blessed that she passed away peacefully into God's hands, on December 1.
Tamara had many great qualities, she was kind, caring, gentle, a great mother and a supportive life partner. She was generous with her time, her many talents and was the most organized person you would ever meet. She was athletic, being a gymnast, and a ringette player which took her all over the world. She loved bike riding and skiing in the Rockies. She also loved travelling, animals, flowers and gardening. She had a strong spirit and when she committed to something or someone, she committed completely. She was the social convenor for many and enjoyed bringing people together. She made it easy to become friends, with her lovely smile and welcoming ways. She will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.
During her illness, Tamara was a spokesperson for Ovarian Cancer Canada and actively organized fundraisers that included the annual Ovarian Walk of Hope in Winnipeg and Ovarian Cancer Paint Night. She became an advocate for women's health to "know your body and speak up". She was always positive and an inspiration to so many, for this she received the Peggy Truscott Award of Hope.
Our family will always be thankful for the exceptional care that Tamara received from Dr. Erin Dean, Christa Slatnik RN NP, the entire Gynecologic team at CancerCare Manitoba, and the staff at Health Sciences Centre, Health Sciences Centre Women's and St. Boniface hospitals.
Donations can be made in memory of Tamara to ovariancanada.org. Friends are encouraged to send condolences to tamaraswalkofhope@gmail.com.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  • Andy, Drew, Bernice, Tim, Kim and family....My deepest condolences to you and your families. I am sure that this is a difficult time for all of you and I hope that your memories of Tamara bring you some comfort. I first met Tamara (Tammy) when we were both 3 years old, we were wearing matching pink short sets. From that moment on, we were fast friends and all but inseparable until our high school years. It's been more than 30 years since I moved away from Winnipeg, and yet we continued to touch base and maintain contact as recently as this year. While our plans to meet over the Mother's Day weekend did not come to pass, I feel so blessed to have spent my formative years in the glow of Tamara's generous spirit, warm sense of humour and kind and gentle ways. Her friendship has left me with a treasure trove of memories. Sending you love and blessings from Penticton! Lisa, Spencer and Bronte - Posted by: Lisa Lauze (Childhood Friend ) on: Dec 10, 2020
