PETER MCCONVILLE
Peter was born in Banbridge, Northern Ireland on December 6, 1951. From an early age, he was a gifted artist. His paintings are on show in homes and businesses throughout Winnipeg. In 2003, Peter and Mayberry Fine Art began a successful and warm partnership which continued to his death. Peter touched countless people with his artwork and achieved great success. Before retirement he was Director of the design department at Pollard Banknote Ltd.
All who knew him personally, knew he was a humble, loving, family man. Peter was very generous with his time. He coached soccer for years, and did volunteer work at the Manitoba Remand Centre and Artbeat Studios. He designed and built sets for the Tara Players. His efforts in the community will be greatly missed.
Our thanks to our family and friends for their love and support. Special thanks to the Palliative Care team, especially Johannes and Sean. To the doctors and staff at Riverview and to Drs. Buduhan, Lipschitz and Polan and Paul from Careica.
A 'Celebration of Life' will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission.

We met in Kamloops and became rapid friends. Peter was thoughtful and displayed depth of character. I grieved when he left Kamloops for Winnipeg, then again when I heard of his passing. One of my favourite pieces is a sketch of his wife walking up a hill in front of him, a work that he generously signed. My condolences to his wife Marion and the rest of his kin. - Posted by: Charles Ayotte (Friend ) on: Feb 15, 2023

I have not seen Peter for many years but I certainly remember when he started working at Pollard Banknote. He was a wonderful, smiley, gentle guy that made friends very quickly I think because of that. When i learned he was an artist I remember being so impressed after seeing some of what he'd created. He was just a lovely, lovely guy and I was so saddened to read of his passing. My heart goes out to his family at this sorrowful time. - Posted by: Diane Pollard (Friend) on: Dec 12, 2020

I'm so sorry to hear of Peter's passing, Marian. I always see the portrait he painted of my Granddad hanging at my parent's house - he was quite talented. He always struck me as a very kind person. My condolences. - Posted by: Cheryl Moore (Castmate) on: Dec 07, 2020

Dear family of Peter, we at Artbeat Studio are so blessed and grateful to have known Peter, an amazing artist, a gifted story teller and a most generous heart! Peter volunteered his time to encourage our participants in their creative process. He demonstrated his highly developed techniques, using his own paints and brushes. He insisted that cleaning up after painting was part of the creative process and taught participants how to care for their tools and materials. He created pieces with the artists, had them framed at Mayberry Fine Art, and donated them back to us for sale at fundraisers. He insisted on including names of the contributing artists along with his own. He was a man of great humility and we loved him. We at Artbeat will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Ernie Bart (Artbeat Studio) on: Dec 07, 2020

I am so saddened to see this news about Peter. He was a longtime customer at my business The Preferred Perch where I became a huge fan of his incredible art. He even came to my home a couple times to photograph pieces of my property for inspiration to paint. It was an honour to have known him over the years and my deepest condolences to his family. May you rest in paradise Peter surrounded by the glory of nature. - Posted by: Sherrie Versluis (Acquaintance) on: Dec 06, 2020

I’m so sad to hear Peter has passed on. Marian, I really can’t believe it. Ruby and I send you our deepest sympathy. I got to know Peter when I was Miss Ireland in Folklorama. His warmth and kindness made him so approachable and his artwork was unsurpassed. I admired him greatly both as an artist and a man, as did my late father Barrie. God bless Peter. - Posted by: Julie McCormick (Friend) on: Dec 06, 2020
