DOROTHY DAVIDUIK
(nee NATURKACH)

We share the sad news of our Mom's peaceful passing on December 1, 2020.
Mom was predeceased by her husband John and son, Richard. She leaves to mourn her children, Judy (Pete), John (Dawn), Sandy (Bruce), Sharon (Murray), and Gaylene (Jim), special niece, Liz who was like a fifth daughter, and daughter-in-law, Brenda. Missing her greatly will be ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Family was especially important to Mom.
Mom was born in Sundown, MB on March 21, 1927. She was the last surviving of nine Naturkach siblings. After marrying, Mom and Dad lived in Arbakka, MB with a short time in Manning, AB and then settled in the North End of Winnipeg, MB. They raised their family with a true sense of hard work and no matter how little they had, or how little room, their door was always open to others for a place to stay and most definitely with food on the table.
Along with raising six children and babysitting other children, Mom was an original carhop. First at the McPhillips Millionaire Drive Inn and then A&W. When Main and Inkster A&W opened, she had a long career there. When Mom was out and about, someone would always come up to her and say she looked familiar. Then they would remember, "you are the lady from A&W!". That always made Mom smile.
After retiring, Mom and Dad spent time in Sundown, MB and in the City tending her beloved little garden for which she won an award one year. After Dad's passing, and when the house became too much for Mom, she moved to her apartment. She stayed in the North End because she would never think of living anywhere else.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was Grandma to some and Baba to others, and they all were so loved by her. Always there for concerts, sports events, or just being with them at home. Mom was always willing to go anywhere and could fit in anywhere. Time at the Lake, car racetracks, or just being anywhere with family meant the world to her. She liked to travel and went to Alaska, Las Vegas, on bus trips to casinos, coast-to-coast in Canada, many years to Hawaii with family, and even a NASCAR Race in Chicago. She loved Bingo, time at the casino, and the friends she made at her Senior's Club and apartment.
The last few months were the hardest for Mom. Phone call connections were not the same as having her family visit at Fred Douglas Lodge. Mom is now free of pain and that is a blessing. Mom had a favourite song, "You Are My Sunshine", and we know she will always be our sunshine.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial will be planned at a later date and Mom's ashes will be interned at Ridgeland Cemetery in Sundown, MB and placed next to Dad. Cropo Funeral Chapels in care of arrangements

My Life on earth is truly past:
I'll Love you all to the very last.
Weep not for me, but courage take
And love one another for my sake.
ALL MY LOVE MOM

  • My condolences to the family. Aunty Dorothy was always full of smiles. It was always wonderful to see her as I grew into an adult, as she reminded me so much of my Baba ( they were sisters and they had the same laugh). May she be welcomed with loving arms by all her family up in heaven. - Posted by: Gina Lewandiwsky (Great neice) on: Dec 07, 2020

  • Dorothy , John and family were an intigural part of the Arbakka community when they resided there . I have many wonderful memories of our family visits with them. They had a way of making us feel welcome at any time for coffee or a visit. This was still evident this last February when my sisters Carole, Marilyn and I visited with her in Winnipeg and she insisted on sharing some treats with us before we left. Dorothy was a much loved and special lady. Sincere and loving condolences to her family . - Posted by: Jeanette and Gibson Risk (Long time family friends) on: Dec 06, 2020

  • My deepest thoughts to all of Dorothy’s wonderful family. Dorothy was a hard worker who instilled all her beautiful traits into her children and grandchildren and all her extended family members. She was a card shark with such a delicate demeanour who always catered unselfishly putting others needs before herself. I will miss her laughter and stories and especially her pies! May you be safe in heaven and rest in peace. Love always Liane - Posted by: Liane DAVIDSON (Family friend) on: Dec 05, 2020
