ROBERT JOHN WILLIAM JOHNSON

It is with heavy hearts the family of Robert John William Johnson announce his passing in the afternoon of November 30, 2020, at the age of 62. Dad passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre with his children at his side, after bravely battling cancer over the last three years.
He was born on February 24, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Predeceased by his parents Elaine and Mac. Robert leaves behind to forever cherish his memory his five children, Tammy (Karl), Bryan (Nikki-Lynn), Bradley (Cassandra), Robert Jr. and Katie; six grandchildren, Charlotte-Anne, Rosemarie, Scarlett, Gunnar, Gordon and Annika; and his girlfriend Valerie, who showed him unconditional love and support, sharing many stories and laughs through the nights.
Dad grew up enjoying summers at Grand Beach with family, and passed on his joy of camping to his children. His first true love was found behind the wheel of anything with an engine at young age. He first worked as a taxi and tow truck driver, then settled into his lifelong career driving semi. He accumulated "hundreds of thousands of miles", sharing some of those miles with his children. When he wasn't on the road, he could be found out on his boat at Netley Creek, riding his Harley Davidson, or at his local coffee shop. There wasn't a Robin's in the city where everyone didn't know Biker Bob and how he took his coffee.
Dad especially loved spending time with his "Katie girl"; collecting hot wheels; collecting hockey cards for his little "tank"; and tinkering in the garage with the Bobby. Christmas was always such a "happy happy" time at Papa's, and it will be so very missed. His proudest moments were watching the success of all his children, and their growing families. He will be missed by many family and friends.
Due to the current pandemic, a private interment will be held at a later date.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in honour of his name.

  • May you Rest In Peace, Bob, finally free from pain. Cancer has taken such a toll on our family from your grandpa ,your mom, aunts & uncles.. My favourite and very early memory is from my sister Elaine -going into Eatons carrying me, expecting Buddy. And the elevator guy yelling โ€œmake way for the pregnant lady with the babyโ€, weโ€™re only 7 months apart. A lot of memories growing up ,would love to share with your kids/grandkids.Sad the families drifted apart. You will always be Bud/Buddy to me. Thank you Val (&your family/friends) for being there for Bob/Buddy. And to the great(+great)nieces and nephews, Bob loved and was proud of all of you. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Love Auntie Gerrie, Bob and families xo๐Ÿ’ - Posted by: Gerrie Drew (Aunt) on: Dec 05, 2020
