ANTON RECEK

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Anton (Tony) Recek on November 29, 2020 at Holy Family Personal Care Home.
Tony is survived by his wife Emma,
daughter Irena (Derrick) and grandchildren, Clare and Cameron.
Tony was born June 3, 1936 in Slovenia and immigrated to Canada with his wife Emma for a better life in 1958.
Over the years Tony worked at Maple Leaf Flour Mill, Motor Coach Industries and
finally retiring from CP Railway, when he turned 65. Tony was a hard worker and made many good friends through the years at work.
Tony enjoyed the simple things in life which included his garden and reaping the
reward of a plentiful harvest. He enjoyed making wine in the fall each year and for those who were ever over at my parents' home know he loved to entertain and you could never leave without having a glass of wine and a meal. Tony loved woodworking and was always building a birdhouse, wishing well for the neighbours or for his own yard. He wasn't one for travelling, but did enjoy his Sunday drives to Lockport with mom.
Tony always was willing to help and sometimes would know we needed him before even asking. He helped care for his grandchildren when they were small, and looked after the rest of us every day of his life.
We will always love you and be forever grateful for the time we had. May you be at peace now, until we meet again.
We love you Ata.
In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal
service and a private family interment will take place at Glen Eden Memorial Garden.
Our family would like to thank Holy Family for looking after Tony over these last few months.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Emma and Irene, very sorry for your loss. I worked with Tony for many years and enjoyed his humor and his stories. I remember the baking he brought to work, always to share and I truly enjoyed sampling his wine. I'm sorry we lost touch in later years. My condolences. - Posted by: Harry Minter (Friend) on: Dec 07, 2020

  • Irena, Kuma, and Family, as I mentioned earlier on Instagram, I’m heartbroken to hear that ur dad/ husband/ grandfather, and, my godfather had passed. He was always a good friend to my dad, and I will always have many fond memories of him and my dad enjoying each other’s company over a bevy, or two,, or three,,, and bickering over different topics that my arise, it was actually quite entertaining for me to watch. Often, I thought of making a bag of popcorn, and grabbing a lawn chair, because you just can’t buy entertainment like that, but they always maintained being the best of friends. I remember him always remembering my birthday when I was a little boy, and even sitting on his lap. Later, as I approached my teenaged years, I often would harass him about selling me his Red ‘64 Oldsmobile Cutlass that I craved so bad when I turned 16. I never did end up getting the car, LOL. A few years later, as my job at Greyhound often took me away for a couple of days at a time, I wasn’t always around home. Then, my dad passed suddenly, and your dad was the one who stepped up, went to the hospital to be with my mom and my sister when I couldn’t because I was away, and HE, was the one who held my sister’s hand, as my dad took his last breath, and then, when it was crystal clear that my dad wasn’t ever coming home again, drove her home. Real Men like your dad, are a rare commodity and I’ll forever be grateful for what he did. He’s one of the last REAL gentlemen. Hopefully, he’s in a better place now, and at peace. They say time will heal, and hopefully it will for you and your family, but, I know first hand from experience, that you will ALWAYS miss him. I miss him already. What a wonderful man he was!! My condolences to you and everybody in your family, I’m always here for you, for the rest of whatever days I got left, remember that. Much Love, Frank. - Posted by: Frank Farkas (Godson) on: Dec 05, 2020
