NORMAN (NORM) JANOWER
July 27, 1953 – November 29, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Norm Janower on November 29, 2020, at his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 67 years young.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Lori of 42 years; his daughters, Jodie (Jason) and Jenna (Cody); son Chad; and grandchildren, Madyson and Jace; brother Kenneth (Florence); sister Linda Sokil; sister-in-laws, Adeline and Lori; as well as many
in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Annie; his brothers, Edward (Eddie), Lenard (Len); and brother-in-law John Sokil.
Norm was born in Arborg, Manitoba, and was raised on the family farm in the Arborg area. He later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he met the love of his life and they began their life together.
Norm was always recognized as a hard worker. He spent the majority of his working career happily employed with The City of Winnipeg in various departments over the last 31 years where he made many lifelong friends. Norm had a great sense of humour and loved talking to anyone about anything and everything, and always gave a helping hand whenever it was needed. He had a passion for sports and a great love for being outdoors, whether it was being at the trailer, hunting, tending to his garden and plants or finding something that needed fixing around the yard. He was a committed family man and always encouraged his children to achieve their highest potential. He cherished his time spent with his beloved family, friends and
fur-babies but, most of all, he was the proudest Papa to Madyson and Jace. He never missed Madyson's soccer games and enjoyed play wrestling with his "little man" Jace.
You will be dearly missed, it's not goodbye, it's see you later, "And that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so!" .
A celebration of Norm's life will take place at a later date when we can all gather safely.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manitoba Wildlife Federation.

Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • We wish to express our deepest sympathies to his wife and children for your loss. "Norm" as from the show Cheers was how I first met Norman at the Waverley Water & Waste, Refuse & Recycling Dept. At the end of the day Norm always came to visit the clerks and had a story to tell which no matter how difficult the day was, he always put a smile on everyone's face. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was loved by many. Barbara Hedley and Irene Yarema - Posted by: Barbara Hedley (Coworker) on: Dec 20, 2020

  • Lori and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I've had the pleasure of working closely with Norm since he moved to Plinguet. I met him when I first started at Pacific 10 years ago. He had a kind soul, took the time to chat with me every now and then about anything really - work and how it's changed over time, the Jets and hockey, about his garden and his family. I was lucky to have received some of his precious tomatoes and they were always so fresh and delicious. I will miss our interactions at the office, his kindness and all the help he provided us. - Posted by: Jenni (Co-worker) on: Dec 07, 2020

  • So sad to hear about Norm. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other but I do remember well how much he cared about Lori. He used to religiously pick her up from work and make sure she got home. There were a few memorable people from our days of owning the Continental, and Lori and Norman were some of them. - Posted by: Dave Grant (Old Friend ) on: Dec 05, 2020
