MICHAEL LOHAZA
November 19, 1920 December 2, 2020
Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife Aleksandra Lohaza on July 12, 1998. He leaves behind his children Andrew and Peter, daughter-in-law Sheryl and the two biggest joys in his life, granddaughters, Hannah and Tamara Lohaza. He also leaves his dearest family friend, Yaroslava Demko. Michael appreciated all the love, support and friendship Yaroslava provided our family over the years.
Michael lived a long and extraordinary full life. As a young man, Michael was separated from his family, he survived the war; cheating death many times in combat and captivity. He was a survivor. He appreciated life and everything good it had to offer. Michael lived with integrity. He enjoyed gardening, his cottage and all animals in nature. He loved his friends and more importantly, his family. Michael was proud of his sons and taught them the value of hard work, the importance of providing for their family and tough love, as both Peter and Andy could attest to. He was the best Dido. Michael had a special bond with his granddaughters. He loved them beyond measure. In his late eighties, without complaint, he would willingly sit for hours on the floor to play Barbie's and board games, play on the swing set or take long walks to smell the flowers. He would do anything to spend time with his girls. He enjoyed their visits. In his nineties, they would often joke with one another that they weren't sure who was looking after who.
Thank you to the all the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for the care provided to Michael during his time there, especially, in his final days. Sister Darlene, Colleen, Brenda, Cecile and Adam we are forever grateful for your acts of compassion towards Michael in our absence. We cannot thank you enough.
Michael has always prayed for our well being, now we pray for his eternal rest.
