ROBERT JOSEPH CONGER
August 21, 1945 – November 28, 2020

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dad, grandpa, and brother, Robert Joseph Conger. "Bobby" passed away peacefully on November 28, 2020, at Riverview Health Centre after a brief illness with cancer.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Shannon Hillock, Andrea Borys, Sheri Brennan (Shawn), and Heather Conger, grandchildren, Brittani and Cody, Kade, Jess (Nathan) Nic, Karlye, Logan and Taylor, great- grandchildren, Kira, Maisie, and Luna, sisters, Joanne (Dave), and Valerie. Also long time family friends, Shelly and Howie Beirnes and honourary grandchildren, Brice and Hayley. Special thanks to Lance Grey and Wes MacLean.
Bobby was predeceased by his beloved wife, Alice, sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Billy, and mother and father, Bob and Anne.
Bobby grew up in Brooklands where he had many adventures with his sisters and friends. He followed in his dad's footsteps and became employed with CN Rail where he had a 32 years career as a carman. Bobby enjoyed his retirement years taking great pride in caring for his home and yard with Alice at his side. He enjoyed his frequent trips to the calm and serenity of Brookside Cemetery to "visit" family and enjoy quiet moments at the duck pond. Bobby had a "somewhat" rough exterior but if you knew him, and were a recipient of his humour, wit, and teasing, you knew he loved you.
We have many cherished memories of dad/grandpa teaching us skills of car repair, house maintenance and gardening. And fun times of watching "The Big Blue" win or lose, and many days at the rink cheering for Logan and Taylor. His support and encouragement will be with us always.
Family will gather at a later date for a Celebration of Life.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in Bobby's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or Rivierview Health Centre Palliative Care.

"In our hearts till we meet again"

  • I have known uncle Bob, almost as long as I have known my aunt Alice, so it seems. Uncle Bob was her true love, and she his. They are together now, and that is a comfort , knowing that they are One, and in peace. Quite the character he possessed. All My Love Uncle Bob! Hugs to both you and aunt Alice, 'til we meet again... xoxo - Posted by: Claudette Legge (Sort of Niece) on: Dec 07, 2020

  • My thoughts are prayers go out to Bob's family, grandchildren Jo Ann and Valerie. I grew up with the Conger family, Bob was my best friend. We sure had fun. Everyday was a new adventure. There was never a dull moment in the Conger household. One story Ann mom said Bob I want you and HARVEY Ged Darvey to get that piano out of the parlour and burn it. So me and Bob started to chop it up with a axe. Got it outside where the garden was and burnt it. Bob's dad comes Home and the piano is still kind of smoldering, you could see all the piano wires and keys. I was so scared Me and Bob knew what the consequences would be. Any how Ann mom didn’t have to put up with Bob's dads playing the piano. I moved to Alberta in 1977 and would meet Bob for Salisbury Nip when I was back in Winnipeg. I would give him a call when I could. The Conger family was a huge part of my up bringing, I dearly loved Bob as a good friend. Rest In Peace my good friend Set the table for me. - Posted by: HARVEY Golembleski (Friend and neighbor in Brooklands) on: Dec 05, 2020
