ROY MELNYCHENKO

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Roy Harry Melnychenko on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the age of 87. He was a resident at Park Manor Personal Care Home.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his two treasured children, Donna and Robert, as well as his parents, Stephen and Annie; sisters, Lillian and Mary; and brothers, Bill and John.
Roy met Mary in 1956 and she soon became the apple of his eye. They married in 1958 and had two cherished children. Roy was fiercely loyal to his family and dealt with the challenges they faced with the utmost of effort and respect for their needs. His dedication to them was admirable.
Very proud of his farming heritage, he often reminisced about his childhood days in Elma. This spawned a deep appreciation for the outdoors and his love for hunting, fishing and time spent on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.
One of life's greatest pleasures for him was gardening. His very meticulous effort to nurture from seed to flower was admired by all who would pass by his beautiful yard each summer. His devotion to this hobby was infectious!
Roy took pride in his long and productive career with CP Rail. He began his journey with them in 1952 and retired as Senior Draftsman in 1988.
Roy was a great guy who was always willing to lend an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on or a hand to help. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a service will be held at a later date.
If you so desire, donations in his memory can be made to the St. Amant Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Mr. Melnychenko was such beautiful person. I was a caregiver for their children at St Amant for many years. I always looked forward to them coming in. I would sit and chat forever with him and Mary. They told me so many wonderful stories of when the kids lived at home and all their home videos they have. They always had gifts for me and they always told all the staff how wonderful of a job everyone did. Their encouraging words always made you want to do better and I thank them for that. My sincere condolences to the family who have lost such a wonderful man. He will be greatly missed by his St Amant family - Posted by: Jaimee (Employee at St Amant ) on: Jan 01, 2021
