ROBERT DIMONT SENKA
1936-2020

On December 1, 2020 we said goodbye to Bob after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Bob is survived by his wife Fran, children, Curtis, Deb (Dave), and Jodie (Kevin), stepchildren, Blaine (Chelsea), Chris (Chantal) and Kathy, grandchildren, Nicole, Sara (Tarek), Carl (Chelsea), Derek, Hana, Holly, Cameron, Devon, Brennan, Kayla and Alex, great-grandchildren, Alessa and Dylan. He will also be missed by sister Joan and brother Jim (Judy) and in-laws, Barry (Ruth), Dave (Brenda), Beth (Don), Craig (Jan) as well many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was born and raised in Flin Flon where he loved to return each summer to fish and canoe. Bob moved to Winnipeg and spent most of his working years at Safeway as a Produce Manager. Retirement gave Bob more time for playing pool, golfing, and watching grandkids play sports. He was a devoted Jets and Bomber fan. Everyone was welcome at the Senka house. He was loved by all for his kindness and big smile.
Thank you to the Palliative Care Program.
Cremation has taken place and a family memorial will take place in 2021.
Donations in his name can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or charity of your choice.

  • My condolences to the Senka family on the passing of Bob. Our paths crossed many times. Bob was a produce manager and spent a number of years managing some of Safeway's smaller stores. One might think it is easy running a smaller store, however there is a lot more running around especially if the produce cooler is in the basement and you are the lone person working the stand. Bob was very organized and being a produce manager, you have to have some artistic skills. There is a lot of planning that goes on in running a produce department and every week sections of your stand changes due to supply of produce, advertised specials and seasonal items. As well as the morning surprise to find that some items were shorted from your order due to a truck breaking down from California or severe weather. You have to scramble to re-organize your counter. One last thing, you have to run a profitable operation, control your spoilage and inventory. Then, it is a matter of time before you get moved up the ladder to a larger store/counter. Bob was successful. I remember Bob as a very sincere and friendly person. God Bless. - Posted by: Colin Dederick (co-worker) on: Dec 13, 2020

  • Bob was a great guy who always put out the welcome mat, whether I was stopping in for a night when returning Dad from California or coming to stay for a week. He was a willing participant in crazy projects such as building a second bathroom for Dad. He and Fran settled in together like they were made for each other and had a wonderful life together. Mike and I will miss Bob very much. - Posted by: Edith Richardson (Fran's cousin) on: Dec 12, 2020
